By now tears were fully streaming down my face.
I looked up to see..satisfaction...on his face.
“ I am impressed. Your mother did indeed tell me about you colourblindness, and I was going to
fire you. But, Riya came in this morning, and told me about your struggle, and, I’ve got to say, I
was certainly impressed by your determination. Any other person would have crumbled down.”
Thats what I did.... I thought.
“ But you didn’t. You sort of remind me of my own younger self. So, I decided to give you a chance. Two days from now, there is a photoshoot for an advertisement. I have decided to hand
the assignment to you. Don’t let me down, kid”
I was beaming.
“ I..I promise I won’t let you down Hitler,I mean, sir! Sorry!”
I scurried off to my desk, right into the awaiting arms of my best friend.
“ So he told you, didn’t he?” She asked.
“ You knew?” I gasped.
“ Duh! Who do you think advised him to give you the offer?”
Did I mention she is the best best friend in the world?
The next two days passed in a blur of colours, literally. We studied cards non-stop, and I could get most right! And then, the day of the photo-shoot arrived. I was quite nervous. It was a photoshoot for a few models. The next two hours were quite busy, and soon, I found myself outside our manager’s
(Hitler’s) cabin. I knocked on the maple wood door. Hearing the faint come-in, I went inside and handed the folder to him. I stood there anxiously, watching him browse through the pictures.
“ Well...” he started.
“ Well...?”
“ Well they are good, not perfect.”
My hopes were slowly dying down.
“ But, with a little work, they can be perfect. Congratulations! You are not fired!” He said with a small smile.
I couldn’t believe my ears. I began jumping up and down and ran straight to hug him.
“ Thank you thank you thank you!” I was ecstatic.
“ That’s alright. Now go and tell Rita, before she breaks open my door.”
We both laughed, knowing it could really happen.
