You were taken aback by the sudden proposition. He seemed to notice, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. "It's not anything weird, I swear! I just don't want you to be trapped up in that castle with that pig. That's not even an insult, he's a literal pig."

You hesitated, nervously pulling at the hem of your dress. "I barely even know you, why do you care so much?"

He went quiet for a few moments, looking down. "I don't know." He admitted, sighing lightly. "I just do, y'know? I care."

You took a few moments to think before slowly shaking your head. "I made a deal with the king - if I run away and he finds me, I'll have to be with him."

He raised an eyebrow, suddenly bursting out into laughter. "Sorry, sorry! Sounds like the plot of some cheesy romance novel!" He adjusted his mask, his laughter dying down. "That was really dumb of you, you know. Think about how many people he has to find you? Even if he doesn't use them, the kingdom is small. There's not many places you could go." He got up, offering you a hand, which you gladly took. Dream pulled you up, turning and sticking his hands in his pockets. "He's a public figure. Public figures know how to make deals they can't lose, so I'd suggest avoiding making deals at all costs."

You took his words with a grain of salt, wincing slightly when he called you dumb. How could you have known? It seemed like a good deal when you made it. "Point is, I can't go with you. Even if I wanted to, I really don't know you. I should be getting back to the castle now." You were slightly annoyed, which he quickly took notice to, walking after you.

"Wait, I'm sorry, I can be, ah...a bit blunt. If you don't know me well, let's get to know each other a bit better!" He proposed, goofily smiling under his mask.

You paused, though continued walking. "I should be getting back."

"Will I see you tomorrow?" He suddenly asked, a frown evident from his tone. "I really do wanna get to know you better."

You gave him a quick glance before sighing and nodding. "I'll try to get out tomorrow. Can we meet here? Town is a little...dangerous."

He fisted the air in victory, though quickly went back to normal once you looked at him. "Do you promise?"

"Clay, I can't-"

"Call me Dream, it's my, ah...code name."

"Alright, Dream. I can't promise you anything, what if-"

He interrupted you once again, grabbing your hand. "Please promise me you'll be here! Even if you have to sneak out. I wanna see you."

You took a deep breath, looking to his hand with a soft sigh. "Fine, I promise I'll be here at some point."

His mask shifted up, signaling a smile. "Thank you. I'll be waiting for ya, alright? If ya don't show up, you owe me!" Dream let go, though not before pulling you into a tight hug. You reluctantly hugged back, feeling eyes on you. Once he let go, you quickly glanced back, but nobody was there.

You quickly forgot about it, though, bidding your thief friend a quick goodbye before returning to town. You were quickly able to locate the road the carriage had taken you down, and soon after a carriage that the king had apparently sent, getting in and thanking the driver, before doing your best to rest. You seemed to have trouble, however, the feeling of being watched stuck on your mind.
