>>Chapter 1- Home?<<

The feeling that was screaming within my body was so intoxicating and nerve wracking. My blood was pulsing quickly through my heart, keeping the beat of it higher than normal. This was it. The crisp envelope was here, in my very hands and this, was deciding my future.

"Open it little one, you've been biting your finger nails all week for this very moment." I turned to face my only relative-as I favoured him the most. A soft smile captured his slightly crooked teeth that never failed to shine so white. Small pricks of a salty tear had gathered into my eyes. I would be crying hysterically if I didn't feel the comfort and support that radiated off him. My lower lip slowly quivered and caught the old man's attention. He laughed a quiet tune and walked towards me, his arms wrapping around my frame as I was pulled into his chest. The scent of a cigar lingered through his clothing as well as the spice of a herb that many had chose to smoke within the hard times. "My sweet, sweet, sweet grand child. I promise you, no matter what happens, you are not a failure of any sorts. But I think you indeed captured the attention of them and your book will be sold."

I forced a strained laugh out as I close my eyes, the prick of a tear falling along my cheeks and down my jaw line. "Thank you grandfather. Thank you." I whispered softly as I clung a little tighter on him, the envelope being squished between my fingers. It was moments like these I treasured the most. I knew the old man didn't have long left but I also knew it was time I did let go off him.
