3 months later -
Today is the day! Justin is coming home on a two-month leave before being stationed here permanently. He's going to be stationed at the Naval base and work a desk job, along with teaching. Reid and I are leaving in a few minutes to pickup Justin from the airport.
Tomorrow we're having a 'welcome home' dinner for him at his parents' house with them, his siblings, us, Declan and Bailie. Aunt Mae has pulled away from me about three days after Reid was born, and I believe it is because of Vance, but I don't know since she won't speak with me any longer.
"Are you ready to pickup daddy from the airport, Reid?" I coo at him while I buckle him into his car seat and tuck his pale green blanket with a Monkey in the lower right corner.
Reid smiles up at me as he gurgles back at me. Leaning forward, I kiss his chubby cheeks before standing up to grab my wallet and phone off the kitchen counter and put them into my pockets, and then grab my keys from the counter, and the car seat handle in my right hand. Locking the front door behind us, I click his car seat into the base in the back seat of the car, before settling myself into the driver's seat, and drive us to the airport.
Turning the radio volume to low, I sing along with the song 'Two of Us', by Louis Tomlinson. Arriving at the airport thirty minutes later, I take Reid from his car seat to just carry him and his diaper bag into the airport. We make it through security, and make our way to gate 4 where he'll depart from the plane. Sitting down on a chair, I adjust Reid against my body, and cuddle him close as I adjust the blanket around him after placing his diaper bag between my feet.
A very long thirty minutes later, people start exiting the terminal gate, and I stand and place the diaper bag over my shoulder. Scanning the crowd of people for Justin, I see several people in Military uniforms entering the waiting area, and stopping off at their loved ones.
My breath hitches in my throat when Justin and I lock eyes through the sea of people. He rushes through the crowd, dodging people as he does this, and doesn't stop until he's standing directly in front of us with a wide grin and misty eyes.
"I love you both, and you both are so beautiful," he murmurs, cupping my face in his warm hands once he's dropped his bag on the floor by the chairs.
Starring back at him, I grin while murmuring my love for him, as he brings our lips together. The kiss starts of sweet and tender, but quickly turns heated as both pour into the kiss how much we love and missed each other. We break apart a minute later in the need of oxygen, and he stares down at Reid in awe.
"I've missed you so much, baby," I tell him softly. "Justin, meet our son, Reid James Smith."
Carefully handing the baby over to him, I let the tears fall at the sight of my Naval Commander sweetly cuddling our son to his muscular chest. He's holding him as if he's afraid to let him go, like Reid will disppear from him. Pulling out my cell, I snap off several pictures of them together through blurry eyes.
"Hi baby boy," Justin softly coos to Reid, sweetly kissing the baby's chubby cheeks; Reid coos back up at Justin with a smle as he drool, and Justin fondly wipes the drool off Reid's chin with a fond smile.
Justin looks over at me with a wide smile and teary eyes as he pulls me to his free side with the arm that isn't holding Reid, and kisses me on the lips; "Let's go home, little one. I need to hold my boys at our home."
Quickly nodding at him, I go to take his bag, but he insists on carrying it and Reid out of the airport as I carry the diaper bag. Justin buckles Reid into the car seat after placing his bag in the back seat, as I place the diaper bag at my feet. He drives us home, after stopping off to pick up food from the Thai resturant for dinner at home. Once home, Justin carries in Reid as I take his bag, the diaper bag, and food, and shut and lock the door behind us.
We eat dinner together on the couch in the living room, with Justin holding Reid on his thighs with Reid's head resting on his daddy's knees. Once we finish, I breast feed and change Reid's dirty diaper, and him out of his clothes into his jammies before giving him back to his daddy. Several hours later, we place Reid in his crib to sleep until he wakes again around 2 a.m. for another diaper change and feeding. We head to our bedroom where we make love for three hours, shower, and then Justin changes Reid's diaper before handing the baby to me to feed, and then we go to sleep ourselves. I'm positive that this was the best sleep I have had in a year because I was held against Justin's body the entire time.
I couldn't nor wouldn't ask for anything more or to be different than what I have in my life now. I have my wonderful friends, and Justin's family who loves us with the exception of Jacob. I have a job that is awesome. I have my sweet, beautiful baby boy, and I have my Naval Commander, who loves us both unconditionally, and I love them the same way.
