christmas morning, i woke up in tommy's bed, as usual, but he was gone. i sat up, furrowing my brows as i stretched and rubbed the sleep from my eyes.
i flung my legs off of the bed and stepped onto the plush carpet. when i exited the room, the smell of sugar and cinnamon filled my nose.
christmas was never one of my favorite holidays, as my parents always felt forced to get me things no matter how much i insisted otherwise. i made my way down the stairs, to see that the christmas tree was now accessorized with perfectly wrapped boxes and bows.
tommy sat on the couch, looking at his phone. at the sound of my footsteps on the ground, he perked up and smiled at me.
"good morning," i smiled sleepily and yawned.
tommy chuckled and kissed my forehead, "merry christmas."
i nodded and wished him a merry christmas as well. i turned to the kitchen, where mr. and mrs. simons stood. mrs. simons was coating cinnamon rolls with icing, and mr. simons was doing the dishes.
once they were both finished, they walked into the living room and sat on the couch across from the loveseat that tommy and i were cuddled up in.
"alright," mrs. simons smiled, "presents?"

the large box sat in front of me, and the three of them watched with excited faces as i tore off the paper. the box was plain cardboard, which only made me more anxious to see whats inside.
i bit my lip and tore off the tape that held the to top flaps together. i shut my eyes tight and reached inside. once my hand made contact with cold metal, i opened my eyes.
"is this...?" i gasped, examining the f/c computer case.
mr. and mrs. simons nodded, and i quickly sprang up to hug and thank them.
"tommy was talking about how he wanted you to start streaming, so we pitched in to help you get what you needed"
tommy nodded, faint blush on his cheeks, "yeah, yeah. now this is from me, me and my youtube money." he handed me a small book-sized box. i nodded a thank you and held it in my hands.
tommy's parents excused themselves so tommy and i could exchange presents. once they disappeared upstairs, i opened the gift, and past the wrapping paper was a white box with my name printed on the front in silver.
i looked to tommy quickly before looking back to the box. i lifted the lid, and inside was a necklace on a plush velvet pillow. i took the necklace out and held it up to the light so i could see the detail. the main charm was a silver lock, and engraved in it was a small heart.
i looked to tommy, a smile on my face, and saw him reach under his shirt to pull out a matching necklace, a key. i flung my arms around him, repeating thank yous and how much i loved him. he laughed, and kissed my cheek.
tommy helped me put on the necklace, and once it rested on my collarbone, i rubbed my thumb against the engraved heart.
i then went to the tree to pull out the present i got for my boyfriend. with a grin, i sat back down and handed him the large gift bag.
he pulled out the tissue paper, and then the first item. it was a small moth plushie.
"its name is clementine," i smiled, thinking back to his rant about how much he wanted a pet moth.
the next item he pilled out was a small framed canvas. on it i had painted an all too familiar scene. two silhouettes slow danced under the stars, the park bench behind them.
tommy smiled brightly, "you know that i'm going to brag to everyone on stream about how good my significant other is at art, right?"
i scrunched my nose and laughed, "you're gonna have to tell everyone that you have a significant other first."
tommy hummed, "you're right, come here."
i scooted closer to him as he held up the painting, and pulled his dumb 'pog' face. i laughed as he took a selfie, getting me, him, and the painting all in frame. he posted it onto twitter, with the caption "my partner is better than yours."
i laughed, "i guess they know now."
tommy nodded, a grin plastered on his face, "they do, and they're already freaking out." he set his phone aside and turned to me. our smiles never left our faces as we both leaned in.

christmas came and went, i got to meet tommy's extended family. to everyone i met, tommy introduced me as his partner, which made me giddy inside every time.
the weeks went by and soon came new years eve. tommy's parents spent the night inside, drinking with their friends. tommy and i, however, decided to stay on the porch in the just above freezing temperatures.
down the street, we could hear the shouts and music from parties, but we paid no mind to it. we sat on the swinging bench cuddling up to each other. the live count down was pulled up on my phone, and we watched as we reached a minute left.
"whats your plan for the new year?" i hummed, not lifting my head from tommy's chest.
he shrugged, "not sure yet. probably just stream, get rich, pick up women."
i lightly slapped tommy's chest as he laughed.
"kidding! kidding! i want to spend it with you." he kissed the top of my head, "what about you?"
"start streaming and stuff. i think i'll enjoy it. and of course ill spend every second of the year falling in love with you." i traced my thumb on the back of tommy's hand.
"you haven't already?"
i smiled, "i have, i just keep falling. can't stop. your like a bottomless pit, but like- enjoyable."
he laughed, and soon we heard the loud countdown from the neighborhood.
