the cold winter air bit my skin as i ran along the grass, dragging tommy behind me. with one hand he held mine, and with the other he held a camera. the park was empty, besides from the few people on their nightly jog or walk. sometimes we would stop to ask to pet a dog, but tommy would have to drag me away.

"we should have brought betty and walter" i beamed as i walked away from the golden retriever i just showered with affection.

"god no, can you imagine them meeting other dogs? they can barely keep their excitement down around each other," tommy laughed from behind me.

i shrugged and dragged him to a bench, "sit! i am getting us ice cream."

tommy furrowed his brows with a laugh, "what? y/n its -1 degrees (celcius)! that's just under freezing."

i kissed the top of his forehead, "yeah yeah whatever, i'll be back."

i skipped away to the small shop area that sat along the park. i frowned as i saw that the ice cream parlor was just selling coffee for the winter season, but i shrugged it off as i walked up to the counter.

"hello, how can i help you?" a friendly old lady stood by the register with a smile on her face.

"hi! can i get two hot chocolates? extra hot with marshmallows and whipped cream?" i handed her 10 pounds, and she took it with a nod.

when she returned with the drinks, i smiled, and put 5 pounds in the tip jar, "thank you! have a nice day!"

she waved goodbye as i left. tommy was in sight, and i smiled at him and his horrible posture as he hunched over to look at his phone. i was on my way to him when i was stopped by a familiar figure.

"hello again."

i looked up to the tall male who spoke to me, and it didn't take me long to recognize him, but i decided to play dumb. "hello! im sorry, who are you? im not good with faces."

"hunter, the waiter from the pub. i gave you my number but you never messaged me." he growled as he loomed over me.

i looked behind him to see tommy, but he hadn't noticed, "oh, yeah, sorry, no offense but i wasn't really interested." my voice was shaky, as i knew how these things went.

being harassed by men was not at all new to me. back home, i couldn't walk home from school without being catcalled. i've gotten used to ignoring it, but i never once have been confronted about it before.

"why not? a pretty little lady like you should be grateful someone other than that little innit boy gave you attention."

ah, so he knew who tommy was. i gulped as i gripped the hot chocolates in my hands. "i said i am not interested. please leave me alone, someone is waiting for me."

as i tried to duck out of the way from hunter, he stepped in front of me again. "come on, let me take you home." his grin made me sick to my stomach. the smell of alcohol from him burnt my nose, and i missed the comforting campfire and cologne that was tommy.

"i said no." i reset myself, cleared my head and stood my ground. the only way to get out of this was to think of nature.

lions are the natural predator of gazelles. with their strong jaw, lions could rip through meat and bone with ease, meaning once they got their prey, they got it. the one fault in the lion's design was its stamina. lions can be fast, but not for long. the gazelle however, was fast, and it stayed that way. gazelles may be prey to the lion, but a lot of the time, they can get away.

if hunter caught me, i would be done for, but im too good for that.

he opened his mouth to speak again, but his words were replaced by a groan as i kicked him in the groin. he held his crotch and doubled over in pain. i huffed and stomped off, the two hot chocolates remaining in my hands.
