"momma !!" Lila shouted from behind me. i jumped a bit turning around to see if she was alright only to see a smile on her face.

she pointed towards a big building and said "we're almost home !!". me and Lila have been walking for hours. we got lost but found our way back with all the little signals. for example this building. it's the largest and closest building to our base and it lets us know we're close to home.

now Lila is my 6 year old daughter. i had her during this whole mess. i hate that she is going through all this no child should ever have to go through any of it.

but we managed to find a good group where she could possibly have a little bit of a life.

we continued walking but I heard some whistling. both me and Lila knew what that was. I pulled her close to me and we both hid behind a tree.

the whistling just got louder. louder and louder until we saw them. scars.

Lila had her own knife since she needed to protect herself in this. you never know what could happen.

we had no other way to pass through them so the only way was too kill them. but Lila would stay hidden while I kill these guy. I try to make it to where she doesn't need to kill people.

I quietly snuck up behind one of them stabbing them in the throat until they were down. I turned around and made sure Lila was still alright.

then I made my way over to the next person and did the same. but I didn't even hear or see the third guy. I only heard him when he was almost right behind me.

when I turned to him he tried to stab me with his knife but I tried to stop him by pushing his hand but I grabbed the blade instead. either way I had to kill him.

I let go of the blade and moved my body to the right. he fell since he was applying too much pressure trying to stab me. I quickly grabbed mine from the dead persons neck. my hand was burning but I had to make sure he didn't get to Lila.

he charged at me but I dodged him managing to cut his thigh and pretty deep too.

but he surprised when he came sprinting at me with his knife. it was such a surprised that all I could do was grab his wrist holding the knife away from me. with my other hand that held my knife I stabbed him in the stomach making him scream.

i felt a sharp pain in my side and looked only to see a smaller knife he was hiding in my side.

he fell to the ground after that. I'm pretty sure he was dead but we had to get out of here.

the knife was smaller yes but the would was still deep and could get infected. i pulled the knife out of my knife putting my hand on my side.

i stood up and made my way to Lila. she was holding her knees and shaking. she looked like she was about to cry.

i wiped the blood off the hand I could use and held my hand out for her.

"Cmon we're almost home" I said with a warm smile even though I was in a lot of pain. she took my hand and we made out way back.

once we got there Abby came sprinting towards us. she picked up Lila hugging her and kissing her cheek. and once she saw me and face dropped. she put Lila down and came over to me. she gently took my hand looking at my features.

i had some dirt on me and a lot of blood. so I looked bad.

Lila tugged at Abby and said "mommy got hurt..". her facial expressions full of sadness. Abby picked her up and took me to the infirmary.

"mommy is always getting herself into trouble huh? and your always there to protect her" Abby said with a small smile trying to cheer Lila up.

Lila laughed with a smile and said "yea I'll always be there to protect her!!". I smiled at them both. Abby dropped Lila off at the daycare so they could clean her up. and after she brought me into the infirmary.

"where did you get hurt?" she asked pulling out a first aid kit but we both knew we needed an actual doctor.

"Abby let's wait for Mel" I said with a small smile. she frowned at me waiting for me to answer the question.

I rolled my eyes showing her my palms and then lifting up the side of my shirt to show her the other one.

"jeez y/n you need to be more careful" Abby said leaning her forehead on my shoulder. i gently kissed her neck then said "Abby don't act like your always careful".

she chuckled a bit and then looked up at me.

Abby has been helping me with Lila and making it seem like she has two parents rather than one.

after I got fixed up Abby came back to the infirmary and she was still really worried.

"Abby. I'm alright if I wasn't I would've told you, you know i would've too" I said with a small smile.

Abby totally ignored that and was still worried. Lila came in a bit after that and sat in my lap and we all talked like the world was normal.

this is what I always wanted. a somewhat normal life where I have a family who I love and I get to know the life of a parent.

I thought I'd never have that feeling but I am and I'd like to think that I'm a good mom.

"y/n. while Lila is at daycare tomorrow why not you and me go do something" Abby said gently holding my hand.

"I'd love that"
