You laid against the brick wall behind you, your stomach growling which made your eyes roll. This whole being homeless thing was killing you. If you knew you wouldn't get kicked out, you'd find an abandoned building and stay in it for a few days.

There were always other people staying in those things, which angered you. Whenever you'd tried to fight for it, you'd just end up defeated. The food was quick to disappear, people catching onto their food being stolen. They got higher security and began to notice you around, keeping an eye out for you.

A tall figure walked by, your eyes widening and you were quick to jump up, rushing over to his side. "Mr. Nakamura," he jumped slightly, glancing at you before letting out a sigh. "I don't have anything to give you kid,"

"No money? Or anything. I can pay you back, I promise," he stopped in his tracks, turning and facing you completely. "Now, how many times have you borrowed something from me?" you stared at him, your face dropping with disappointment. "Dickhead," you mumble, turning away from him.

Having come across him several times during these past several months, you asked for help a few times. He was generous enough to help you, but not this time. This was a recurring event, though. So, it wasn't anything new to you whenever people eventually began to say no.

You were only 15. Sure, you borrowed things from many people, not able to pay them back, but you did what you had to do to survive just as anybody else would. "What did you just call me brat!" he put a hand on your shoulder, yanking you toward him.

"Hey!" you shout, trying to fight from his grip. Falling onto your bum, you glared up at him, feeling the anger fuel through you. "You can't go around throwing little kids around like that, ya know!" Mr. Nakamura shook his head disapprovingly.

He leaned closer to you, nearly clamping down on the cigar in his mouth. "If you know what's good for you, stay away from me. You don't want trouble with me, kid," your eyes narrowed at him. "Screw you old man!" his eyes widened at your boldness.

Were you supposed to be afraid of him? You weren't. You've been through a lot in your lifetime, this didn't compare to any of it. Grabbing you by the collar of your white shirt, he stared through you.

"Get off me!" you pulled back from him and his grip only tightened, pulling you toward him. Spitting in his face, he finally let you go, letting out a groan.

Oh fuck. You looked at him, watching as he slowly realized what you had done. His cigar fell to the ground and he wiped his wet face. You decided to move before the situation got worse, but you were too late, the man kicking you down as he got angrier.

"Oi!" a voice echoed throughout the alleyway, making you turn toward the voice. A boy who appeared to be your age stood there.

His hair was white and he had piercing blue eyes that could be seen from a mile away. "Get lost!" Mr. Nakamura shouted at him. The boy wasn't phased, continuing to stand at the end of the alleyway, watching the scene unfold before him.

You decided to make a run for it, running toward the boy who had given you time to escape the old man. "Than—"

"Shut up," he mumbled coldly, your eyebrows knitting together.

Mr. Nakamura walked toward the two of you, his eyes remaining on you as you hid behind the boy. "This doesn't concern you, boy. If you don't want trouble, I suggest going elsewhere. My business is with the girl,"

Holding his hand out, your face lit up with a shade of blue, flames coming from the boy's hand, lighting that bastard on fire. The air was hot, your arms raised to help shield yourself.

It was so cool. That must've meant he had a quirk of his own, which you didn't have. Being so amazed by his flames, you couldn't help but peek under your arm. "Ahh!" Mr. Nakamura was on fire, his body turning black almost instantly as the fire connected to him.

"Hn," the boy hummed, shoving his hands in his pockets and walking past the burnt body.

You stared in awe, your face getting red. He was so cool! The smile on your face dissipated whenever you remembered how rude he was when you tried to say thank you.

Disregarding it, you decided to follow him. You had nothing else better to do anyway, and you both appeared to be alone. He glanced behind him, taking notice of your presence. "Quit following me," he said.

"You just saved me! And obviously, you look homeless too," your eyes darted to his raggedy clothing and he stopped, taking a look at himself. "thank you. Do you mind if I tag along with you wherever you go next?"

He scratched the back of his head. "I didn't do it for you. He was in my way," was his cool response. You shrugged causally. "Well, regardless of who you did it for, it still saved me," he turned, walking away.

Rolling your eyes, your stubbornness led you to continue to follow him. He was easily pissed at this, stopping and shifting. "Don't make me burn you too,"

"Nobody would care if you did anyway," your response stunned him but he soon recovered himself, letting out a scoff and walking away. "If you want to continue to follow me...prove your worth to me!"

Your face beamed with excitement and you blushed suddenly. "Okay!" running after him, you walked at his side, occasionally sneaking glances over at him as you walked together.

He was amazing, you couldn't get over it. He could feel you constantly looking at him but he chose to ignore it, acting cooly.

Locking your hands together, your lips pursed and felt the adrenaline soar through you eagerly. It felt good to see someone around your age, the same as you, or so you assumed.

Forgetting all about your hunger, you continued to follow after him, wondering where on earth he was taking you.
