Roxanne Gomez softly winced as thorn pricked the fleshy part of her thumb, she was picking roses from her garden and this happened quite often so she ignored her throbbing thumb and she wiped it onto her jeans before completely picking the rose from the bush. She pushed her self up and walked through her messy backyard that had long dying grass and flowers that had gone black. There was a small patch where a rose bush stood, it was the only thing alive, the only thing she watered and the only thing that got enough sunlight. She walked into her small garage where forgotten instruments laid in a box and a old Chevy impala was parked. She picked up her skate board that had stickers pealing off from the bottom but she never bothered to replace them, Roxanne placed it on the concrete and skated past the neighborhood, it was usually crowded but since it was nearly midnight the streets stayed empty with no noise but the harsh wind that blew through Roxanne's hair. Every now and then a click from the wheels riding passes the cracks would echo through the quite town but Roxanne simply picked up her speed. She felt the breeze hit her tan skin, and shivered slightly as she reached her destination.

LORRINGTON CEMETERY

Those 2 words glared back at her she walked passed the gate with the rose gripped in her hand. Her cheeks had gone pink as goosebumps covered her body from the cold, she picked up the board as her black converse shuffled through the damp grass, she held her skate board to her chest, and pulled the hoodie of her sweater over her head. Roxanne's eyes scanned the cemetery, thousands of gravestones stood on that cold night as Roxanne finally found the one she was looking for.

Valerie Gomez
1955-1990
A loving mother and sister

Roxanne let tears flow down her cheeks as she sat on the grass, "I miss you mom." She mumbled softly placing the rose into the vase she had left a few months ago. She dug into her pocket and pulled out a small lighter, she grabbed a cigarette and lightly grazed the flame on the edge. "Dad also misses you of course, Lorenzo has been getting picked on by some kids in his middle school, it's getting bad and he wants to move schools." She explained softly as she blew smoke into the air, she looked down for a moment and stayed silent as she inhaled the cigarette and let the warm smoke back out. Thunder faintly cracked in the back, there was a storm coming yet she still sat on the wet grass smoking a cigarette. Roxanne sniffed softly and gulped before letting out a shaking breath. "I miss you so much." She this time multiple years came flowing out, today was her mother's birthday and she would do anything to hug her one last time. Rain began to pour down as Roxanne dug the cigarette into the floor and stood up wiping the tears from her cheek, she sighed as she walked out the cemetery in a rush, the girl placed the skateboard down and quickly left. She reached her house in only a few minutes, walked into her garage but stepped into a few puddles on the way in. She put the skate board back in it's spot and walked into her house, immediately the warm air hit her as she unzipped the soaking wet sweater and threw it onto the floor. She sneaked towards her fathers passed-out body on the couch and lightly shook him awake, "Dad, dad." She whispered as he grumbled.

"What do you want."

"You have to sleep in your room." She told him and lifted his arm, "Come on, get up." She tugged on his arm till he finally stood up and lazily walked up the stairs with her, she had to hold his arm to make she he didn't fall, a smell of alcohol burned her nose as she walked with him but she ignored it since it wasn't new. When they reached the wooden door she opened it and lead her father inside the dark room. "Lay down, right here." She whispered as he collapsed onto the bed and was asleep in a few moments. She sighed as she walked out and silently closed the door behind her, just a few feet from that same door she sneaked past her younger bothers room and into her own.

She shut the door and untied the wet shoes, then she threw them somewhere in the room before opening her drawer. She pulled out shorts, a large hoodie, and stuffed the packet of cigarettes deep in between her clothes, she walked into the bathroom where she showered and changed. Her wet hair still dripped onto the back of the hoodie as she picked up her backpack and placed it on her bed, "Math, just perfect." Roxanne complained, although it wasn't her favorite subject she was still pretty good at it. "Who the hell thought putting numbers and letters was a good idea." She grumbled and sat at her desk, she pulled out a pencil and scribbled out the answer onto the work sheet. She mumbled the numbers under her breath and counted with her fingers when suddenly 3 knocks came from her window. She didn't turn around when the window slid open and the sound of the pouring rain and lightening immediately filled her ears. She placed the pencil down and sighed, "How bad was it."

"Bad." Reggie's raspy voice replied, by the sound it Roxanne knew that he had argued back, something that always put her on edge.

"I'm going to watch stars wars in a bit, I just gotta finish this last question." She mumbled and turned around, Reggie sat on her bed looking at the sheets with a small smile "Wanna join." He nodded as Roxanne chuckled and stood up. She dug through her bottom drawer and pulled out some clothes she had stolen from Reggie a while ago. Since Reggie had walked all the way from his house in the pouring rain, he had obviously been soaked, "Get changed I don't want my bed all wet." She handed him the clothes and he took it before walking into her bathroom as Roxanne left the room. She tiptoed passed her fathers bedroom and quietly walked downstairs where she tried her hardest not to make to much noise when making some popcorn.

"What's are you doing." A sudden voice asked as Roxanne jumped but turned around.

"Not of business." Roxanne replied to her younger brother, Lorenzo Gomez, "I'm making popcorn if your dying to know."

"Why?"

"Because I'm watching a movie, and eating popcorn while watching a movie always makes it 10x better." Roxanne scoffed. "Isn't that obvious." The popcorn popped behind her in the microwave as Lorenzo glared at her with a raised brow.

"Are you sure that boy isn't here again." He questioned as Roxanne eyes widened.

"No."

"Yes he is!"

"Shut up." Roxanne hissed covering his mouth as Lorenzo pulled her hand off and stared at her.

"If I hear any funny business I will slap you and tell dad" he pointed a threatening finger at his sister as Roxanne went pink and her mouth dropped open.

"Funny business? Are you kidding, he is my bestfriend, you won't be hearing anything other then Darth Vader's loud ass breathing." Roxanne explained as she took out the steaming popcorn from the microwave. "You better not say a word or you'll be dead in less then 24 hours." Roxanne climbed up her stairs and back into her bedroom door where Reggie sat on her bed staring down at the t-shirt he had on.

"I've been looking for this for months, and you telling me you had it all this time." Reggie asked the girl who awkwardly stood by her doorway trying to hold in a laugh.

"Maybe."

"You're lucky your cute." Reggie pointed at her with a smirk as she passed him the popcorn with a soft blush on her cheeks. "Ooo, food." He mumbled as Roxanne walked to her stack of VHS movies. Her finger grazed the worn out boxes as she finally landed on the one she was looking for. STAR WARS

She crouched down by her large TV and turned it on, she placed the tape inside VCR and pressed play. The TV clicked on as the movie began, she grinned as she turned over to Reggie already comfortable on her bed. He threw popcorn in his mouth and lifted his arms up, "Come join me." He mumbled through her full mouth as Roxanne laughed climbed onto the bed right next to him. She dug her head into his chest and watched the tv with a smile, "Thanks."

"Your welcome Reg." Roxanne replied with a smile as she lifted her head to look up at him, though the words stood at the top of her tongue she held back. "Your welcome at this shitty residence anytime."
