A/N: Sooooooo, I've been a little bored and have been making this character for awhile and I figured hey, why not write about her? This character is one my many many OC's I've created for RWBY (don't ask why I just do). This isn't a reader x a character story or even a RP story, just a story I want to write for fun. So hopefully I'm not too much of a terrible writer, and hopefully y'all enjoy it!

It was 7:00 AM, Hanako had already been awake for fifteen minutes, she was thrilled to have been accepted into Beacon, even if she didn't show it all too much. The airship would arrive at any minute, but before it did she sat down and took in the sight of her village, well what used to be her village. It wasn't destroyed, nor was it under siege, it was beautiful and lively, the river that flowed through it was clear and quiet, filled with flower blossoms and Shigone fish (think koi). Each one different from the other in size, pattern, and color, and they swam all along the water, in and out of the village. The market stalls were nearing their opening hour as could be seen by the lights glowing, the inn was, as always, packed loud and was the brightest building in the village. The day before was a special one, an annual festival held by the village in honor of  Kaede, the goddess of life and mother to all other Gods. Her temple lies within the maple tree forest that borders the Southeastern entrance of the village. Yesterday, in other words, was her birthday. And the inn is well known for continuing the celebration maybe a little too long.

Before she could continue taking in the beautiful view, she heard the sound of the airship coming in to land. She turned around and saw the Vale emblem painted on the side. When it had landed the door slid open and out walked a group of passengers, some from the very village, others were just tourists. When they had all exited everyone who had been waiting patiently entered the airship, took a seat and waited as it began to take off again. Roughly an hour later, just after flying over a very modern city the sight of Beacon academy appeared. Its architecture was like no other Hanako had ever seen, and what was most prominent was the tall tower that lay at the heart of the academy.

The airships came in for landing, each one different in both class and size. Many students came from the larger ones, Hanako from a more medium sized one, and others, mostly those of higher status in their own private ship solely for their travel alone. One in particular that Hanako noticed was that of one that had flags hung from the rear. On both the banners and ship was the grand simple of the Schnee family. Hanako recognized it from her years of studies. Amongst the crowd of incoming students she could pick out what looked like the heiress herself, in her ice colored clothing and, as usual, sporting her long white hair in a ponytail.

After a while of taking in the view of Beacon she made her way into the auditorium with all the other students, here she could scan the area more clearly as everyone stood with their friends and chatted. She observed their behaviors and whatever weapons they had attached to them. Before she could move towards any one particular person, the sound of a microphone rang throughout the auditorium.

Ozpin: " I'll...keep this brief. You have traveled here today in search of knowledge, to hone your craft and acquire new skills. And when you have finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I look amongst you, and all I see is wasted energy, in need of purpose, direction. You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step."

Throughout the auditorium Hanako could here whispers and gossip as to the commencement speech given by the headmaster. Before they could develop into conspiracies, Glynda Goodwitch took to the stage and announced to the students where they would be staying for their first night. In the ball room.

Night eventually fell and the broken moon shines on the academy. Hanako was organizing her bedding for the night. It was near impossible to get a good nights rest with all the students around her being noisy.

Hanako: "If only everyone could go to bed" she said under breath.

???: "You can say that again sis" she heard from her left. She glanced over and saw a girl her age, similarly dressed to her as well although the girls clothing was much more recent versus Hanako's more traditional garb. This girl was obviously from her village, or maybe from a neighboring town.

Kaneshi: "I'm Kaneshi Kanou, it's a pleasure to meet you." she said with a smile as she stuck her hand out. Hanako, although cautious at first, shook it and replied:

Hanako: "I'm Hanako Tokugawa."

Kaneshi: "Tokugawa?" She said with a confused look on her face. "That sounds familiar." This made Hanako nervous, perhaps Kaneshi knew of her past? Before she said anything the girl spoke again.

Kaneshi: "Oh I got it! You're from Yakuraha village right?"

Hanako: "Yes."

Kaneshi: "I thought as much, I heard your family name came from that region, I'm from Tawarasato, the village just East of their, over the mountains of course." She said again thrilled to see another one of her people here.

Hanako sat up to face the girl, who looked at her again and spoke.

Kaneshi: "I don't know about you but it seems like these people don't know the meaning of sleep." She said with a giggle. The both of them were then distracted by the sound of someone's outburst. As they both turned to face the source they saw the heiress confronting three other girls, a tall blonde whose hair rivaled the heiress, or was truly the victor. A shorter girl next to her who had black short hair with red tips, she seemed very young, at least compared to everyone around. Finally a girl sitting with her back against the wall, long black hair with a bow on her head, reading a book using the glow of the moon and the candles next to her. Then, from what Hanako and Kaneshi could make out, it sounded like the heiress was scolding them for being too loud. The younger girl scanned her environment and had her eyes met by both Hanako and Kaneshi staring at her and the others near her. To this she felt embarrassed and grew a slight red hue on her cheeks as she turned to the other girls and shushed them. This however only proceeded to make the heiress blurt out more commotion. This continued even after the girl with the bow blew out her candles.

Kaneshi: "tsk, children am I right?" She said shaking her head slightly at the four girls.

Hanako: "We're no older you know."

Kaneshi shrugged in response to which Hanako smiled. Kaneshi proceeded to turn around and go to bed. Hanako looked back at her bedding in contemplation, fiddling with what had happened today, where she now was. Suddenly her concentration was broken when Kaneshi spoke.

Kaneshi: "Goodnight." She said with a yawn.

Hanako: "Goodnight." She replied before laying down herself. She closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.

A/N: If you made it this far I would like to say thank you! I'm unsure how often I'll upload parts due to life being a thing. Let me know what y'all think so far, I know it's not the greatest story ever written but I hope someone enjoys it!
