Y/N pov

After a few hours of wandering around, taking out some Slimes and Hilichurl camps you got quite tired. Since it was close to noon you decided to take a nap in the shade under a tree, the big tree near the statue of seven at Windrise to be exact. It took you five minutes or so to get there. The slight gust of wind in the open that sent chills up your spine. The breeze of the nearby river that went all the way to the falcon coast and the cool atmosphere under the big tree made you feel as if everything was out of a fairy tale. It truly was a sight to behold. You sat in a spot that slightly covered the Statue of the Seven and had a full view of the grasslands. In the background you could see some Slimes wiggling around, and a bunch of Hilichurls patrolling the area. Birds were chirping and flying overhead, while the soothing sound of water flowing through was such a nice tone  that it reminded you of why you came here in the first place. Your eyelids felt heavy and finally, you went into a dreamless slumber.

 

Y/N pov

You've been awoken by someone playing an instrument. It was soft and gentle like the wind.

'A lyre.' You thought.

You slowly got up and dusted yourself off. That seemed to peak the interest of the bard.

"Ah~  you finally woke up. I thought you were dead at first!"

'I wish'  You thought to yourself.

"Who are you..?" You asked the shorter boy.

"Oh!  I'm Bar- Venti, the wandering bard!" He answered with a toothy grin.

"And you are...?"

"The name's Y/N." You replied.

"Y/N? That's not a local name for sure. Anyways~ Do you mind coming with me to Mondstrad? It is getting quite late."

You still were waking up and just noticed how late it was. The sun hung low over the ground, about to set. 'Did i really sleep through the whole day..?'

"Soo.... you coming or not?" He leaned forward in curiosity.

You thought about it for a moment. A warm bed in an inn for once in a while wasn't a bad idea. "Yeah, sure. Why not?"

At that Venti pumped his hand in success. "All right, follow me!"

After tagging along with Venti you both were at the gates of Mondstrad about to enter when the guards stopped you.

"Hey, you, Traveler. You're not welcome to this city." Said the guard on the left.

"What? So i, Venti the bard am able to get into the city while this mare stranger can't??"

"There have been rumours about a  theif around Springvale, stealing goods from the hunters." Said one of the guards.

"Huh? I've never heard of a thief.." Venti thought for a moment.

By that time the sun has settled, it got dark and it seemed to get colder too. You looked around for a bit, looking for a place to stay and camp since you couldn't enter the city.

You heard someone sigh.

"Well... The stranger here is my friend, so they'll keep me company all night long! You don't have to worry bout a thing!" Said Venti.

"All right. But if someone's robbed it's on you." Said the Superior guard.

Venti's face lit up.

"Come on Y/N! Let's get you settled in!" The bard grabbed your wrist and started running in the direction of the tavern.

You don't know how, but you ended up with a drunk bard kicked out of the tavern. You got him registered in an inn that had only one room left, so you didn't bother trying to sleep with him. You took this time to explore the city some more. even though it was still night you weren't sleepy at all. You enjoyed Nights more than anything. Sure there were a lot more dangers after dark, but that only made the nights more mysterious. In the shade of the dark you always felt... safe. It made you forget all about your problems, and watching the sunrise before a good nap was one of the nicest things you could feel. Like a reward of sorts. With that mindset, the night went through and morning came. It got quite loud so you decided to head to the library. You knew where it was since Venti told you everything while getting wasted.
