I'm so sorry for taking forever to upload this! I'm really bad at keeping an update schedule, but I will finish this freaking story if it's the last thing I do!

Dr. Ikeda is long gone by the time Deku bursts back into the room. He's alone it seems, because Todoroki doesn't follow after Deku through the door.
Bakugo is once again in his bed, looking out the window. He hardly acknowledges the man that enters, only slightly saddened about Todoroki being gone. Not that he would ever, ever, admit that out loud to anyone. Honestly, he doesn't even know why he's sad about it. Probably because of his unwelcomed feelings of gratitude for the stupid Icy-Hot bastard sticking around and getting him to safety.
Anyways, he would probably be more worried about Todoroki's disappearance were it not for Deku being seemingly at ease. Wherever he went and whatever it was for, Bakugo doubted it was too serious.
"Kacchan, Todoroki had to step out for a phone call, but in the meantime maybe you could try eating a little? I brought you some spicy mapo tofu!"
Bakugo sighed. "I don't want it, Deku." He knows rejecting the meal is going to bring up more concern and questions. Especially since Deku knows spicy mapo tofu is one of his favorite meals.
"But, Kacchan-"
It's then that Todoroki decides to rejoin them. He slams the door open, causing both Deku and Bakugo to jump. Deku yelps but manages not to drop or squeeze the life out of the container of mapo tofu and sets it down on the tray now carrying three uneaten meals. Bakugo was about to reprimand him for being aggressive to his poor door and remind him that there are other patients in the hospital, but Todoroki is quicker to speak.
"Bakugo, I got called in. I'm afraid I won't be able to keep you company tonight either."
Okay, so that's why he was irritated, but that's no excuse to abuse his only mode of privacy!
"Tch, like I'd need some babysitter or something. And watch the damn door!"
Maybe he would have liked Todoroki to stay, he's a good listener after all, but still he finds himself relieved at being left alone. Sure, he was sad about not seeing the younger male earlier, but Todoroki spending another night here with him means talking to him and most likely exposing himself. Todoroki deserves the explanation, but he's not willing to mention what's happened to him to anyone, or, mention it at all.
Why do they need to know anyways, he thinks, because they're my friends? That doesn't entitle them to anything! And if they don't like it, then they can leave! I don't need some weak, pissy, overemotional friends.
(Except he knows that if he were to lose his friends and all of their emotional baggage he doesn't know what he'd do. He loves those bastards.)
"It's okay Todoroki! I was planning to stay with Kacchan anyways."
Well damn. Bakugo wants to be upset, but he knows he shouldn't even be surprised. If Todoroki wasn't already looking after him, he knew the nerd would have been the one to take the role, no questions asked.
"I know you'll take good care of him Midoriya."
They nod to each other like it's some promise before Todoroki makes his way to exit the room.
Ugh.
Deku's a good friend now, dare he even say like a brother, and he didn't mind the greenette's company anymore. They've been through so much together, and he's gotten too comfortable with the man he's known since early childhood. Still, he can't let go of his bad habit of keeping everything bottled up. So once the door closes after Todoroki's leave, he forces himself to think about anything but his current situation.
