I know that not everyone chooses to live a life for the betterment of, not just themselves but also others. That has to be a choice. But it doesn't necessarily mean that you have to start off in a journey saying, 'this is exactly what I'm going to do', if that becomes a part of your journey that's a great thing.

BTS are using their platform in such a powerful way that motivates and encourages their fans.

This blog is dedicated to Paradise by BTS, as you could probably tell by the title.

I included the Korean lyrics, the English translation, my analysis, and the meaning behind the song according to BTS.

Enjoy ♡

My Analysis

This song refers to the premise that we all have a duty to set goals and work to achieve them, or in other words, it talks about the relentless pursuit of our dreams.

BTS is saying, contrary to that premise, that we don't have to submit to the idea that we must have dreams to pursue. Not all of us are certain of what it is we're supposed to be doing.

Because of that premise though, our generation was led to believe that we are supposed to be competitive, regardless of whether or not we know what it is exactly that interests us.

Life is a race, a marathon. And like any other race, there is a competitive element to life too.

But this song raises some questions:

why are we running?

Is my happiness really contingent on this marathon style of living?

Am I not worthy of life without a purpose?

This is a foolish race, they say.

Stop running, they say.

It's okay to not have dreams because our paradise isn't wanting at the finish line, rather it's around us.

Life is a paradise, and to enjoy this paradise to the fullest we must live.

Racing is not living.

And, while there is no right way to live, it's important nonetheless to make sure we are not sacrificing our own happiness.

What we should be asking is: 'What is the point of reaching your goals if you are ultimately not happy?'

The important thing to remember from this song is that our worth is not determined by our achievements.

We are all of value and loved, and that shouldn't be contingent on someone else's standards.

Paradise is in virtue of happiness
