Hello, people of the Bangtan universe!

Demote or devalue a person or thing; a pluto (not capitalized) is someone or something that has lost its status.

On August 24, 2006, the International Astronomical Union, which decides the official names of all celestial bodies, stated that Pluto was not a true planet because it’s “too small and doesn’t dominate its neighborhood.” They dubbed Pluto a dwarf planet.

It seems that after hundreds of thousands of songs were written about breakups, it would be virtually impossible to reintroduce this theme in yet another song in an original format.

This song, however, made the impossible possible. But, don't misunderstand, I don't mind being wrong, especially when BTS are the artists to prove me incorrect.

134340 features the reimagining of Pluto and the circumstances around its status as if they were the story of an ending relationship.

At the beginning of the song, Pluto claims to be ”without a name to myself”. In 2006, Pluto was given a new status as a dwarf planet. The former 9th planet was assigned the asteroid number 134340, as it no longer qualified to be considered a planet.

Much like Pluto was revoked from its status and name, when people break up they no longer possess the titles of boyfriend / girlfriend. They are ”nameless".

The song continues with metaphorical usages saying ”I still orbit you, and nothing’s changed
If love has no name, everything has changed”. Pluto is a person who was dumped but still holds on to the relationship, only there is no relationship anymore. Now, it is nothing but unrequited love.
