"Rosaline" my father, Giuseppe, shouted up to me from my chambers. I ran out of my chambers and walked down the stone staircase to be confronted by my 2 older brothers, Damon and Stefan Salvatore, and my father. "Yes father" I smiled as I held my pale white gown. "We have been invited to a ball by our friends. Make sure you dress appropriately" he gave me a stern look. "Yes father" I agreed and made my way back up to my chambers with my brother, Stefan, by my side. "Rosaline" he showed off his pearly white teeth. "Stefan" I nodded. "Save me a dance?" he grinned. "Certainly" I replied and Lydia, my maid and close friend, closed the doors to my chambers. "How about this one?" She pointed over to a manikin next to my dresser. "It looks beautiful" I was pleased with her choice in clothing.

Lydia helped me squeeze into a black and white gown ready for the ball. "How do I look?" I span around for Lydia. "Perfect" she laughed. "Thank you, Lydia" I embraced her. Suddenly there was a loud knock that echoed through out my room. "Enter" I raised my voice so that they could hear me. The door slowly creaked open and stood before us both was my father. "Mr Salvatore" Lydia curtsied and left the room. "Lydia?" he called her back. "Yes, Mr Salvatore" she said with a look of worry in her eyes. "Beautiful choice" he smiled to her and nodded his head at my gorgeous new gown. "Thank you, Mr Salvatore" she signed a sign of relief. "Go and enjoy the rest of your day, Lydia" he dismissed her. "Yes... Thank you, Mr Salvatore" she grinned widely and left. "Let us go to the carriage" My father walked me out of my chambers and to the horse and carriage that was parked outside of our house.

Once we arrived outside, Stefan had convinced our father to let him escort me into the ballroom. All eyes were on me and my family as we entered the room, so we all smiled a friendly smile towards the other guests. "Shall we?" Stefan nodded to the dance floor. "We shall" I laughed and grabbed his hand. He delicately walked me over to the dance floor and we started to slow dance. As we were dancing I saw my father constantly looking over his shoulder to see if I was ok and soon enough Stefan started to notice it too. "It's ok. He is making sure his little girl is safe" I saw him smile as we stopped dancing. "I know" I smiled in return. A few minutes later Stefan and Damon went to find their friends whilst my father watched me dancing with my friend, Thomas. Myself and Thomas had grown up together and our families were rather close, but my father still thought it'd be necessary to watch over me just in case. He had been very protective ever since our mother died from an illness called Tuberculosis. I never actually knew my mother, she had passed away just after I was born.

As soon as the ball had finished I couldn't find my father so I searched around and finally found him coming down the staircase with blood on his once clean shirt. "Father?" I said giving him a look of worry. "It's ok darling. It was business" he explained and I nodded. We all knew that my father's job was to hunt down vampires and although I had never met one before, I had heard plenty of stories to make me scared of them. "Where are Stefan and Damon father?" I looked around the room. "They had changed. They were no longer your brothers" he walked me out of the house and into the carriage. "But father..." I was shocked. There was no way they could have been vampires. Surely we would have noticed it earlier, after all they are family. "No I have told you they were not your brothers anymore, they were demons" he raised his voice at me. I put my head down and looked out of the window as the carriage began to move. I tried to hold in my tears and kept telling myself that they would be at home in the morning and that what my father was saying wasn't true.
