The way I had got my job wasn't right, but it worked. I had lied about my work experience. I said I worked for big brand companies when really I had only worked at fast food joints. I had to. Who would hire an undergrad with little experience? Let alone a person who can't keep a job. Even a beginners job. No one. I found myself in line at Au Bon Pain buying Mr. Jackson's usual hot hazelnut coffee. He had given me the company card to buy office needs. As the cashier handed me the hot cup I took it exiting the café. "Damn-it! Not again." Because of the amassment errands Mr. Jackson had me take on this morning I was running late... Again. I made my way into the building as everyone turned in my direction. "Ms. Alena, Mr. Jackson would like you in his office right this instance." My heart rate increased at the thought. I just knew it was time for me to get fired. It was my second day late this month. I got to his office as I knocked. "Come in." His voice boomed from inside the office. At that I walked in. "Alena Sumpter." I began to feel afraid. "Yes Mr. Jackson, sir?" I tripped over words. "My coffee." I took a deep breath remembering I was holding it. I nodded going to hand it to him. His eyes met mine and I panicked in fear I'd make a mistake, and I did. I spilled the coffee on his desk all over his papers. His eyes shot up at me and I could see them fill with rage. He stood up so the coffee wouldn't run off onto him. "I'm so sorry, I'm going to clean this up right away." He didn't respond. I went to grab some paper towels and he snatched my arm up rapidly pulling me to him. "You can't do the simplest job right can you? You know what..." I looked at him terrified. He was finally going to fire me. "I have a better job for you." My face changed as I let his words register. "Tomorrow when you come into the firm you are to report to my office pronto! No more excuses. Your job duties will be changed, so if you plan on keeping your job I strongly suggest you be here on time. Do I make myself clear?" I nodded in understanding. I couldn't risk losing that job. It's a very well-paid one. "Good. You are dismissed."
