"No matter how hard the past is, you can always begin again." -Buddha
Lovely; elegant. That is what my name means. It's silly really because my life is nothing but elegant, and I haven't felt loved in a long time.
My name is Arabella London Wilson. I'm 27 years old. I have 2 Phd in sociology and psychology from Georgetown. Born and raised in DC. And most people call me a genius based on my past articles on criminology. I come off as shy because I'm too busy finding out the dimensions of the window behind them. I'm about to start my work for the BAU in Quantico, VA. I'm super excited to start!
~
Garbage trucks and rushing of the wind is not what I expected to wake up to on my first day of work. My eyes open and realize that my bed frame was still in storage so my back was definitely going to hurt like hell. I walk slowly to the bathroom to get ready for the 'glorious' day. throw on a navy green pencil skirt and a nice black blouse to attract whatever heat was left in this DC morning. I rush toward the door to get out of the weather and see a lady who you could tell was glowing from the sun itself, she looks older than me but still very bold patterns of blue and green. "Excuse me!" I shout over the wind as she is about to enter the building. she turns around and see me, "Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry. I couldn't hear you over the wind dear. I'm Penelope Garcia. the tech girl for the BAU. and you are?" she rambled so fast that I only got the last part. "I'm Arabella Wilson but call me Bella, newest member of the BAU. I'm glad that we'll be seeing each other more often." she radiated with a smile, "oh you're going to fit right in here. I can feel it! coffee?" she said handing me a mug with lipstick on it. "I had some right before I left my house, but thank you. but did you know that sharing drinks with someone is the 3rd fastest way of getting sick?" she laughed at the fact. "you're definitely going to fit in".
we walked in together laughing over some guy she was talking about name Reid in the elevator. "babygirl, you should bring in spares more often" a dark strong man said to Penelope and winked at her. "actually I'm here for the BAU team leader, Aaron Hotchner?" another man popped out of an office with the most serious look on his face. "Dr. Arabella Wilson?" I hate it when people call me doctor. "yup, that's me. good morning" I greeted him with a firm hand shake. "hey everyone! this is Dr. Arabella Wilson. She's new to the team." his voice echoed the bull pen of the 6 people that were his targets. "it's good to have you here" now more in a whisper to me. I nodded and proceeded to the desk that had my title on it. on my way over, I see another desk with the title that also has doctor on it. "wait! are you the Dr. Wilson? the one that did the article on crime, law, and deviance?" the young name over excited over a paper I did in college. but was so cute obsessing over it. "yes, that's the one. I'm Arabella" I went to go shake his hand but he pulled away. "oh I understand, sorry. so inconsiderate of me. I don't shake hands either." "so many germs" we said at the same time. I giggle a little at the sign of his rosy cheeks. "ok you two, shack up somewhere else. I'm Derek Morgan" the flirty man from earlier spoke while stirring his coffee. "I'm Emily Prentiss. don't mind Morgan, he tried to get me and Spencer to get together." the woman laughed and I looked at Spencer who heard everything. I gave him a reassuring smile to make him feel better. it worked.
"no case today, just files" a blonde short lady said. she must be JJ from the call last week. "oh hi Bella! I'll get some files on your desk in just a moment she said while walking to an older mans office. Oh My God. "is that the David Rossi?" everyone had a confused look plastered on their face. "umm yeah why? I didn't know you were into older dudes" Morgan joked and laughed. "no, I read all his books and articles. he's literally one of the reasons I got into criminology". I was totally being a fan girl in this moment. I heard Spencer Reid's laugh for the first time and glowed a little inside. "what are you laughing about? I thought you out of everyone would understand". "no I'm not laughing at you. I did the same thing when I met him." he giggled leaving his face with a smile from ear to ear. making me smile much harder. "ok lovebirds, these files won't read themselves" Emily said. I got back to my desk and scribbled out the doctor part of my name on my desk. "why'd you do that?" Spencer asked with a confusing look on his face. "I hate my title. it just reminds me of my past and it wasn't pleasant." I said looking away from him in shame. "we can't let our past defeat what we worked hard for." he said as if he told himself that in the mirror every morning. I felt a little hurt for him hearing him say it like that. "I'll get you a new name tag" he smiled and walked to Garcia's lair.
around lunch time I sneak away to Garcia since she is like the only person I truly know here. "Hey girlie! I was just coming to get you and see if you wanted to run to this local sandwich place. it's so good and so rich in flavor an-" I interrupted. "yeah for sure, can you just do one simple thing for me?" she smiled with confusion. "yeah, your wish is my command." "can you remove something from my record? I have something from my past that I don't want the team to know about." she looked concerned even while typing. "which part of it?" I pointed to the part of the screen I wish wasn't there. she looked at me like a broken mirror and looked like she was tearing up. "oh fuck, don't make me cry from you crying" I said already crying, but not enough for my mascara to run. "I'm not crying, I'm just sorry to hear this from you" she said obviously crying. she quickly turned backed and deleted it from the record. "thank you for coming to me. if you ever need someone to talk to or even just go shopping for boots with, I'm here. oh speaking of boots..." she on about this sale that made me laugh. we entered the real world aka the bull pen and were laughing about how Morgan still calls Garcia babygirl for years. Reid came over and asked where we were going for lunch and if we could pick him up something. Garcia being the shiny person she is said yes. he gave her his order and her and I walked off.
on the way there we talked about the team and gossiped a little. "so what's up with Spencer? he seems really young to be on the team." I observed her facial expression. "he has an IQ of 187, can read 2,000 words per minute, and eidetic memory and graduated high school at 12. he's a genius even though he doesn't want to admit it." she went on about. "no no no, I meant like emotion wise. he said something to me that seemed too familiar to him." I asked not trying to be too invasive. "oh he's been through a lot. I like to gossip but not about trauma. I'll let him tell you on his own terms. just like how I will let you tell him your stuff on your own time." she said reassuring me that she isn't as much of a gossip as I thought. we got our sandwiches and coffee's and got a cab back to headquarters. I gave Spencer his sandwich and coffee and thanked me and Garcia generously. I ate while reading files and listening to music for longer than I thought.
I felt a tap on my shoulder a flinched a little too hard. "woah, just coming to see if you need help with those files since it's already dark out. are you alright?" he asked actually concerned while having his hands up saying he's innocent. "yeah I'm fine, just tired. what are you still doing here?" I questioned seeing that he finished all his files. "oh I was just coming over to see if you needed help with your files. not that you need help. I mean your so intelligent and-" I stopped him from rambling. "I would deeply appreciate some help. thank you." I said blushing a little from him calling me intelligent. he grabbed 3/4's of the pile and pulled up a chair next to me. I could tell we were going to be a good team. I just plead that they don't look at me the way Garcia did when she found out about my false record allegations.
