All of my anger and frustration drained out of me as soon as the door shut. What the hell was I thinking? As the normal human being I am, I started to knock my head against a wall, not caring if anyone was watching. Kind of a mistake."Rough day?" asked a very deep voice. I twisted my neck around so fast, I felt I got whiplash. My hand instantly reached up to rub my neck. A laugh echoed from the guy who had caused me this pain. I glared in his direction and he held up his hands in surrender. That's when I took my time to look him over (I am not checking him out, just...looking), he was tall, around 6'2 and a football, I mean English football, players build - slim waist with wide shoulders. He had naturally tanned skin and pitch black hair that completes the entire Mediterranean look he had going on. A crooked grin takes up most of his face; not in a bad way, it just gives him a more childish face. But the most interesting thing about him were his eyes, bright green, with a mischievous glint in them. All of this I took in in less than a few seconds and he seemed to have done the exact same to me. Now don't get me wrong here, he is insanely good looking but ... not my type.
He walks towards me and stops a few feet away, he sticks his hand out and smiles his crooked smile, "Percy. Percy Hale, 500." He nodded over his shoulder, down the corridor to the first dorm. Percy's hand had started to waver like he was going to put it back down, I grabbed it before he could. He seemed decent enough and I had to make friends to get away from the bitch that is my roommate. I smiled up at him and he seemed to let out a sigh of relief.
"Eliza Hood, 505 if you couldn't guess." I said. He looked towards my dorm and shook his head slightly.
"I'm just taking a wild guess here, but is your roommate Karma MacBride?" Percy asked. He had a knowing look in his eye which suggested that he already knew the answer. So I simply nod my head, remembering the encounter with Karma. He physically winced at my answer and gave me a look of sympathy. "I've known Karma all through high school and I would just wanna say be careful around her. She has a mean streak a mile long and does not take too kindly to people who stand up to her." Great, my roommate is a bully who can't handle getting put in her place. Only when she deserves it... of course. I needed food because my new predicament demanded it, obviously, so I started walking in what I hoped was the direction to the cafeteria, Percy walking beside me.
"Well she better get used to it. I'm not going to let her walk all over me like a bloody welcome mat." Percy laughed at my response and bumped his shoulder against mine. "I think this is gonna be the start of a beautiful friendship." We laugh together and continued our way down the stairs that we were currently on. Percy seemed to understand where I wanted to go and took the lead.
Percy's new here too, I remind myself as we rake the third wrong turn in our journey to the cafeteria. All I want is food, is that too much to ask? Food brings me happiness. Do not look at me weirdly. When I was in high school we were asked what made us happy and I was hungry at the time so I said food. The phrase then stuck to me like a dick without lube ... That's a weird phrase - courtesy of my high school friends.
Anyways, back to the point. It took ten minutes for us to get to the cafeteria with Percy apologising repeatedly along the way. "Percy, it's fine. We're here now, aren't we?" I asked him. He still looked sheepish but nodded his head. I looked around the room to see it was mostly empty, with small groups splattered around the fairly large dining area. The clock read 12:00 exactly, lunch time!
I made my way towards the hot food counter, already smelling the food before I could see it. Pizza. I sighed, it had been a few hours since I had last eaten and even then it had only been a packet of crisps even then. Reaching into my pocket, I started to panic. My money wasn't in there. I searched all of my pockets before coming to the conclusion that I was a moron. In my huff, I had left the dorm without any money. Bloody idiot, I called myself.
