My eyes fluttered open. I'd been having a dream about a voice - deep and masculine. I couldn't see who the voice belonged to or understand what he was saying. It was a weird dream to say the least. I squinted at my docking station that also doubled as my alarm, but the time was covered by a bright pink post-it note. The note was blurry at first but my tired eyes finally made sense of the words, "Thought you looked tired last night, so I thought I'd turn this off for you. :D". I ripped the note of my docking station and stared at the time, 8:15. The fucking bitch! She turned my bloody alarm off.I fell out of bed in my hurry to get up, not realising that the sheets had decided to play twister with my legs. I tried to stand up but ended up on the floor again, I groaned and ripped the sheets from my legs. However, with all the noise I'd made, I woke the she demon.
"What the hell? Why are you up so early?" In came the questions I had predicted. Karma seemed to like stressing at least one word in every sentence. It made her sound like an idiot. I don't see why she's so annoyed, I'm the one that has a class in 15 bloody minutes!
"I have an 8:30 class. And someone decided to turn off my bloody alarm!" I snapped but it fell on deaf ears as Karma had already fallen back to sleep, lucky bitch. Pulling out the first clothes I came across, I wondered why on earth I chose an early class, and I came to the conclusion that I hadn't. They'd cocked up my schedule, which is just great! I'd just have to go change it afterwards. With another groan I ran into the bathroom to get changed, brush my teeth and have a wash... After completing all of those things I decided to just tie my copper hair into a pony tail, instead of wrestling with it into anything presentable if I left it down.
10 minutes to class and counting.
I had successfully gotten changed and now it was a sprint to the cafeteria. Luckily, I had packed my bag yesterday so all I had to do was grab it before I left the dorm. I managed to make it to the cafeteria in record time, well considering I've only ever been there once, it was classed as a new record. My breath hitched as I pushed though the doors and looked towards the counter.
There was no food!
Nothing, zilch, zero, nil, nada, niet, not even fruit. I ran towards Brittany, who had been my server yesterday and practically begged, "Is there any food left?" Brittany glared at me and grunted a "No."
"WHAT? What do you mean there's no food? There has to be something! Isn't there even fruit?" What has the world come to? I'm begging for fruit! I was starting to attract attention and my cheeks began to heat up. But I needed food, breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day - a vital meal that should never be missed. And here I was missing it because Brittany couldn't be arsed giving me a piece of fruit. How can breakfast even be over? More than half the uni aren't even up yet. I made this point to the ever-so-helpful Brittany and again she just grunted and shrugged her shoulders.
"Yo, Eliza, over here!" came a shout from behind me. I turned around to see Percy Hale waving at me from the table we sat at yesterday. I smiled in return and made my way over to the table, keeping my head down as I was still getting odd looks from people at their table after my little performance of making a fool of myself.
Percy was currently squirting as much syrup as he could over his pancakes, but looked up when I got to the table. As I was about to sit down an apple and a quickly muttered "Think fast" were thrown at me by Percy. I caught the apple and took a bite of it, then looked over at the clock and groaned for what seemed like the eighteenth time this morning.
"You better get going, only got two minutes to get to class." He smirked. Percy could sure state the obvious. I muttered a "thanks" before setting off at a jog towards the doors of the cafeteria.
