The exhibit staff arrived and handed New the list of paintings, alongside names of the artists. Part of the preparations was to make the labels for each artistic creation. As he was too busy, he did not notice that part of the list is Tay's work.
Tay called up Sing to help him with the packing for air transport of the paintings. They were covering up the first three pieces when Sing saw the last two pieces. It was not of landscape art. It was a painting of a sunset and two people going separate ways, fingers still holding on, as if hurting to let go.
The next painting is still of the same sunset, and a man sitting on the bench alone. The man was seated leaving enough space on the bench, like it was waiting for someone.
Sing's jaw dropped. He was having a good play of emotions. "Am I seeing things right? Or is it just my imagination?" Tay in his usual self, just gave out a smirk and a shrug. "Hey Tay, tell me, what's this about? Are you having a change of heart now, because you know, I think its long overdue?" Sing hissed.
"What nonsense are you saying? It's just the same painting themes. It's not something new" Tay on the defense. "Yeah right! I say, memories can be funny. And memories of people we love are always alive." Sing was confident in pointing out. "Its nothing. It's just a change of air. Memories are of the past. It doesn't speak much anymore" Tay cleared, following a deep sigh.
"You know what Tay, you can keep painting rainbows, beautiful landscapes, and alive-like forests, but there will never be a single day that you won't see yourself gazing upward, may it be sunny, cloudy, or a rainy day, and stare at that sky and feel that punch inside you. It's an actual pain that you feel, and you know it. And I wonder up to this day, how much longer you want to keep it."
"I don't see your point. Some things cannot be undone" Tay quietly uttered.
"And some things can be recreated, Tay. You're a painter, and you know that even smudges can still turn out beautiful," Sing was on a tone higher than usual.
"But the smudges were just covered up, underneath there can still be traces" echoes Tay.
"It doesn't matter, because the beauty that came out will be enough to make it appear beautiful and whole on its own. As you say, perfect imperfections right? Aren't you tired of feeling half dead inside you? Because I am tired seeing you that way. You are my friend, and I want you to be happy because you deserve it. You both deserve it" Sing spoke with much care and concern.
