I saw her at the check-out isle. It seemed as if she was flirting with a guy. There’s barely anyone here. We could easily be spotted. I tapped my sister on the shoulder. She turned to me and smiled “Don! Have you met Johnathan? He’s a real sweetheart.” She said turning back to him. “awe, no you are.” He said smiling her. I did have the time to hear whatever odd display I was seeing. Using sign language, I told her [we need to go, It’s not safe.] She looked at me in confusion, then to the door. One of the three men walked into the store while the others stood by the door.
I could see the panic on her face. She took a deep breath and walked up to the man. “Hi, how may I help you?” the man looked at her in confusion. “sorry, I work here, and it seems like you’re looking for something, so how can I help?” she said as he stared at her. “Well, I was looking for a sled for my kid, he just loves the snow” he said. I was feeling uneasy. I wanted her to get away from him, quickly. “well the sleds are in the back isle, and don’t hesitate to call one of our employees if you need anything else.” She said in a sing song voice.
He nodded with a smile then walked off. She came back and whispered, “we need to leave”. But how? I signed. “What’s the problem?” Johnathan whispered. “I think we may be in danger” she said, “does he have anything to do with the recent kidnappings?” Johnathan said as my sister and I looked at each other. We highly doubt it, but we can’t let anyone know. [Maybe, but for now, we need to find a way out of here.] Abby nodded but I could see the visible confusion on jonathans face. “just follow us” Abby said. Looking around I couldn’t find a possible exit. Two of them was blocking the door and one of them is in the back. “The bathroom has an exit” Johnathan stated. “but shouldn’t the door be locked?” Abby replied [Why don’t we break the lock?]
“I believe the alarm would go off.” [It’s better than nothing, and we could run for the woods straight afterwards.] Abby nodded. “Alright John, we’re going to the bathroom”. “don’t say it like that”. He says as we all sneak to the stall bathrooms. “It doesn’t smell right in here”. Abby says while Locking the door behind us. It’s only a matter of time before they notice we’re missing. The door seemed solid. But there was a window above it. I pointed to the window and It seemed like they understood what I meant. Johnathan gave me a boost as I unlatched the hooks allowing the widow to swing open. “You’re really light, do you even eat?” John said as I rolled my eyes.
I got down and let my sister leave first, Johnathan was second, then they helped me get out. Then we ran straight for the forest… It’s been a solid minute since we’ve been running. We had to stop since Johnathan was wheezing. Abby was making sure Johnathan was okay while I texted uncle to close shop and get ready to leave. I was really starting to like here. “We have to go”.
