When the sun had risen that morning, Evangeline (some people call her Ava as well) knew that today might very well end in a shit show. She didn't know what is was and she couldn't quite put her finger on it, but she knew. So when a bed headed and pajama clad Annabeth Chase came banging on her door, Ava figured that this was the start to something that they wouldn't see then end of for a while.

Annabeth kept pushing her blonde hair out of her face as she tried to tell Ava what in holy hades had happened. "And then she just said that the answer would be a boy with one shoe. And then poof, she was gone, out of my head." Annabeth looked at Ava. "You think I'm crazy don't you."

Ava rolled her eyes and let out a chuckle. "Your kidding. Annabeth, we live in a world where my father is the ruler of the Underworld, your mother is the goddess of wisdom, and your boyfriends half brother is a cyclops. Crazy? No. Slightly sleep deprived? Very high possibility."

Ava ran her fingers through her long black hair. The two of them were sitting on Ava's bed in her cabin. The Hades cabin was built unlike any if the other cabins at Camp Half-Blood. Evangeline had designed it so that when you walked in down stairs, you walked right in to a lounge room with a fireplace, coffee table, four big sofas and a Lazy Boy. On the left wall going up were the stairs that lead to the loft bedrooms. Ava had the place mostly to herself, except for when her half brother Nico di Angelo popped in and stayed a few days. The loft was a wrap around, almost like an entire different floor from the lounge below, except that in the middle there was a large hole in the floor with railing so that you could look down at what was going on down stairs. Ava's room was made so that there was a dresser with a mirror above it, nightstand and bed.

Ava reached for her hair brush so that she could brush her hair an put it in the braids she normally had them in. "Annie, if what Hera told you is true, then I think what needs to happen is we need to go to the Grand Canyon today and look."

A look cam over Annabeth's face. "Aves, I can't ask you to come with me."

Finishing off the two pigtail french braids, Ava put her hair brush down. "Well good, cause I'm not asking. Let's go tell Chiron." The girls got up to get ready to go when Ava's face scrunches up. "But, first, you are showering. You stink." Ava pinched her nose in a joking manner and Annabeth rolled her stormy eyes.

When the group consisting of Butch, a son of Iris, Annabeth and Ava had gotten the chariot ready with Ava's pegasus named Bella and another pegasus from the stables, they set off for their ride to the Grand Canyon. Ava had thrown on a lighter maroon sweatshirt with a sugar skull design and a pair of ripped skinny jeans along with her grubby with high top converse that had been covered in multi colored sharpie doodles thanks to the Stoll brothers. Her black stygian iron snake ring on her left hand that turned into either a bo staff or sword depending on what way you turned it.

Landing at the Grand Canyon, Annabeth had jumped off of the chariot before the wheels even touched the ground, Ava right after her. Annabeth stormed up to the small group of kids. One was a blonde boy about Ava's age with electric blue eyes and a small scar right above his lip. Another was a girl with slightly curly hair and dark skin giving off the look that she might be part native american. The other boy was a smaller kid, not as tall or as muscled as the first boy but  he definitely still had some muscle. He had curly short hair and darker skin with brown eyes and a smile that told you right away that this kid shouldn't be trusted alone with either fire or sharp and pointy things.

"Where is he?!" The look on Annabeth's face could make even some of the most stone faced people look scared.

The look on the blonde kids face was one that made Ava wish that she had a camera. "Where is who?" The blonde scrunched his eyebrows at the end in confusion.

Butch was still messing with the pegasi while the questioning was happening but Ava was right there beside Annabeth. Ava crossed her arms and raised her eyebrow. "Percy? Y'know, about yay tall, sea green eyes, son of Poseidon?" Ava raised one of her hands to a little over a half a foot above her head. The blonde shook his head.

Annabeth frowned like the blondes answer didn't make any sense. She turned to the other two in the group and fired some questions at them. "What about Gleeson? Where is your protector, Gleeson Hedge?"

The kid with curly cleared his throat then spun his finger in the air like he was trying to make a tiny tornado. "He got taken by some... tornado things."

"Venti." Blonde said. "Storm spirits."

Ava looked at him confused. What was with the latin? She thought. "You mean anemoi thuellai? That's the Greek term. Who are you and what happened?"

The blonde kid did his best to explain what happened when Butch came over part way through and gave the three newbies a once over. By the time the kid had finished, Annabeth look even more frustrated. "No, no, no! She told  me he would be here. She told me that if I came here, I'd find the answer."

"Annabeth," Butch had grunted. "Check it out." He pointed to the blondie feet. "The guy with one shoe, he's the answer."

"No Butch, he can't be. I was tricked." She looked at the sky like it had done something wrong. "What do you want from me? What have you done with him?"

Ava sighed, rubbed her eyes, cracked knuckles and neck, then moved back to the chariot to talk to Bella. But on the way back over to the pegasi, the skywalk that they had landed on shuddered.

Butch gave them a look. "Aves, Annabeth, we gotta get out of here. Let's get these three back to camp and figure is out there. Those storm spirits might come back."

Annabeth looked that the crew of new kids again before looking at Ava that just shrugged. "Fine. We'll settle this later."  She turned on her heel and stalked off to the chariot.

The girl with curly scrunched her nose. "What's her problem? What's going on?"

"Seriously." The curly haired boy sighed.

The blonde kid shook his head. "I'm not going anywhere with her. She looks like she wants to kill me."

Ava gave them a smile then looked at Butch and motioned with her head for him to go get the chariot read. Butch walked off while Ava explained what was up. "Annabeth's okay. You gotta cut her some slack. She had a vision telling her to come here, to find a guy with one shoe. That was supposed to be the answer to her problem."

The girl with curly hair quirked her head to the side. "What problem?"

Ava let out a sigh. "We've been looking for one of our campers, who's been missing for three days. She's going out of her mind with worry and I am running on four hours of sleep and almost five cups of coffee. We hoped that he would be here."

"Who?" Blondie asked.

"Her boyfriend and one of my best friends. A guy named Percy Jackson."
