"No Claire I- calm down I didn't mean it like that!"

Piper put her book down, moving to sit on her knees on the bed to get a better angle of the window. She saw him pacing his bedroom, phone in hand, his voice sounding distressed. His curly blonde hair was messy, his white pyjama shirt bringing out the ocean blue in his eyes (which Piper totally never noticed). He huffed and hung up, plopping down on the bed with his head in his hands. Piper already knew what was happening. His girlfriend went off at one of his jokes, either deeming it not funny or thinking it was meant to offend her. She moved to her desk to grab a notebook (which was specifically made for these notes, even though she wouldn't admit it), uncapping the black marker on her bedside table and scribbling a message on the paper

You ok?

He gave her a small smile, opening his curtains even more to get a better view of her window, and grabbing a notebook of his own (Which Piper secretly hoped was made specifically for her, which she doubted), writing a reply with his messy handwriting. The contrast between her neat, organized letters and his that are scattered all over the paper always made her laugh.

Just tired of drama :(

The sad face accompanied made Piper's heart flutter just for a moment, until she grounded herself to reality.

I'm sorry :(

He laughed at the sad face she copied off him, shaking his head as he wrote his next message

Thief!

Piper bit her lip, laughing. She slowly wrote out the next few words, already knowing she won't ever have the nerve to show him the note. She looked up, and was met with his green curtains, fully closed. She sighed, fiddling with the cap of the marker

"He probably went to sleep" She mumbled to herself. She turned the notebook in her hands, showing it to the non-existent Finn in front of her

I love you

Piper groaned, laying back down on her bed. Cheer captain, the most popular girl in school, with approximately 35 thousand followers on her social media (which Piper didn't even use), Claire Holt was pretty much perfect. Aphrodite would probably be jealous of that girl's beauty (yes Piper obsessively read the Percy Jackson books). How could Piper ever compare? However, a little part of her held hope, that Finn could ever see her in that way. They've been next door neighbours, and hence best friends, since they were 5. They were total opposites. Finn, the most popular guy in school, captain of the football team and constantly being swarmed by girls. Piper, well kind of the nobody of the school. Her presence probably wouldn't even be known if she didn't often hang out with Finn. But even then, when he suggested she hang out with his friends (who he insisted weren't as bad once you get to know them), she was met with eye rolls and glares. So she just gave up and ate lunch alone on a secluded table in the corner of the cafeteria, much to Finn's dismay. ("Piper, you can't keep hiding yourself from everyone!").

She stretched her arms over her head, heading to her closet to take a look at her clothes. Of course, it mainly consisted of hoodies and plain shirts, except for the few dresses here and there that her sister Gabriella insisted she buy (even though she never wore them). Finn always pestered her about this whenever he came over (which was a lot), giving her lectures about how she should have more self–confidence.

Flashback

"Look, all I'm saying is the ending wasn't even that bad! It was a little rushed, but it was entertaining" Finn lay on her bed, his phone stretched out over him (Which Piper already knew would fall on his face), clearly not willing to let go of the idea that Piper thought the ending of Hotel Dystopia was horrible

"Finn, they literally didn't even give the viewers time to process the mystery! I'm never watching any movie you recommend again"

Finn averted his eyes from his phone, briefly looking at her and then back to the screen "Your loss shortie"
Piper rolled her eyes at the nickname he's used for her since they first met (which she probably should've gotten used to), grabbing a black hoodie from her closet

"piper?"
"Hmm?"
"Why do you always wear your hoodies? And don't tell me it's because you like them"
" But I do. I don't feel the need to wear short skirts and heels that I wouldn't know how to walk in" That was a direct jab at Claire, and she knew it was petty but she couldn't help herself. Finn just laughed, rolling his eyes.
"You never wear them around your house" His tone turned serious. He raised an eyebrow, expecting a response

"Are you admitting to stalking me Finnyboy?" She desperately tried to change the topic of conversation, but she already knew he'd catch on. He knows her way too well

"Don't change the topic. Piper, all I'm saying is you should wear whatever you want, but do it because you actually want to and not because you're feeling insecure. You shouldn't hide yourself, you're beautiful"
