Louis ~ Happy Merry Birthdaymas?

"Louis get up! It's your birthday!" someone yells directly into my ear.

"Ow," I moan into my pillow.

"Come on Louis! Get up!" Daisy yelled again.

"Let me sleep in peace," I mumbled.

"But it's your birthday Louis! And Christmas Eve! Besides, mom said she wanted you out of the house by noon," Pheobe informed me.

"Fine, I'll get up," I said rolling over so I was on my back. I stared up at Daisy and Pheobe. They watched me to make sure I was going to get up. I huffed and sat up. They smiled, happy with their work and left me alone. I got up, picked up some clean clothes, and went to take a shower. The warm water felt nice against my skin as I stood there in thought.

Mom probably wanted me out of the house because she was planning a birthday party for me. I had told her many times that it wasn't necessary, but she insisted. Eventually I got tired of arguing with her and accepted the fact that I would be having a birthday party.

As soon as I was ready for the day I headed downstairs. I was greeted by Daisy, Pheobe, and mom. They were sitting at the table eating a late breakfast.

"Good Morning Louis!" Mom said cheerfully.

"Morning mom," I responded nicely. I sat down at the table, but didn't take any food. It was an odd time to eat so I decided I'd get something when mom kicked me out of the house.

"Now Louis, you've been cooped up in this house for a few days now. Why don't you go out and have some fun for a few hours," Mom said. It’s as if she just read my mind. I really didn't feel like going out today since I would have no one to spend it with, but I knew I had to agree.

"Sure, that's a good idea," I tell her. It's apparent what her plans are, but I don't want to spoil her fun.

"Great!" She exclaimed. I explained that I was going to go get ready and headed back up the stairs. I entered my room, pausing for a moment to take in all the old sights including posters and CD's, and went over to my dresser. I ran a comb through my moderately dry hair and decided that a beanie would be a good option today because of the cold weather. I picked out a gray one and slide it on. I then put my phone and wallet into my pockets and put on a jacket. Very gracefully, if I might add. Not. Anyways, it looks like I'm ready for my exciting day alone. I go back downstairs, say goodbye to everyone, and head out to my car. I decided that I would go to the mall even though I surprisingly had all my Christmas shopping done.

I listened to the radio as I drove, quietly singing along to Lifehouse. When I turned into the mall I saw it was crowded and people were in a last minute frenzy. I had always wondered if it was human nature to wait until the last minute for everything. It probably was judging by the people in front of me.

I found a place to park and carefully walked through the parking lot. The last thing I wanted was to get hit by a car or face plant because of this snow that was making everything slippery. I got to the entrance of the building and stepped into warmth. I kept my head down as I aimlessly wondered around, mostly window shopping. I occasionally went into a store; buy more gifts for the lads and family. That meant more wrapping tonight, but I didn't mind. My family was so supportive of everything I did and they deserved it.

I took out my phone to check the time and saw it was only two o’clock. Before I left I was given very specific instructions to not come home until at least three o’clock. It looks like I would have to find something to do for an hour. I saw a small book store ahead of me and it didn’t look to busy. There was no harm in looking around, right? I tightened the grip on my shopping bags without thinking and walked a little faster, wanting to get out of the crowd. Soon I found myself in a quaint store with a musty smell. Odd store for a developed mall. I let out a breath, happy to be out of everyone’s way.
