Prologue

Because of that incident, I lost my eyesight. I had my mama at papa that's always there for me because of my fear to be alone. Because the trauma I had after that incident...is indescribable.

Because of financial problem, I can't have an eye transplant. Ginagawa ng lahat ng mga magulang ko ang makakaya nila para lang makaipon ng pera para makakita na ako, but I don't want them to be exhausted, ako dapat ang inaasahan nila dahil magtatapos ako ng pag-aaral para yumaman kami.

It's okay for me to be blind, as long as my parents are fine. They don't need to push themselves just for me, I should be the one who works hard for our future.

I always had them as a part of my life, but friends? I don't have friends since I'm always quiet at school before and I'm easy to forget so none of my classmates know what happened to me now and what I am doing.

But there's always this one person, that keeps teasing me. At first, he's so annoying...

"As you can see, I'm handsome."

"I can't see." Inis kong sabi.

I thought he's going to forget me and leave me alone just like my past friends but he beared the time being with me even though I'm a boring person. I can't even see him, I don't know what he looks like and I don't know how he smiles since I can't see.

...but now I realized that he's a funny guy and makes me laugh all the time.

"Bat ka pumunta dito eh hindi mo pa naman pala nahuhugasan mga plato sa inyo?" I asked.

"Mahirap kalaban ang katamaran kaya kakampihan ko na lang." He said, at nararamdaman ko ang mayabang niyang mukha. I laughed because of the relatable thing he said.

Pero alam ko ang rason kung bakit lagi siyang wala sa kanilang bahay.

I can see, but it's a complete darkness. I don't know what's happening around me but since he came, he became my eyes. He helped me explore more things since I'm always staying at home even before nung nakakakita pa ako.

Hindi ko alam pero mula nung nagkakilala kami, palagi na akong naghihintay sa kanya araw-araw. He became part of my life, my parents liked him since he got their trust. Mama and papa even treated him as their own son.

"I actually have an illness." Bigla niyang sabi.

"Ano yun?"

"Lung cancer."

Because of that, we spent more days together. We even made other friends, I can't believe that we're actually a squad now and we have the same vibes and emotions so we got closer.

They're the most beautiful thing that ever happened to me. The true friends I always wish I had, became true.

"Please live, for me." And I cried after that line.

And the day has come, when the sadness and pain I felt....is unbearable.

But thanks to them, especially to him, that made my sight bright.
