The Audition

Y/n's POV

Today is the day I get to audition for the touring cast of Newsies

"I'm so excited," said y/n to her roommate, bestie, and fellow theatre kid Hannah

"You're going to do great, you have been working so hard for this for the last six months you got this" Hannah said in a comforting way calming y/n

The audition was in 2 and a half hours and I really need to get ready. I was still in my pajamas and had only eaten breakfast 15 mins ago

I went into my room, Roo my dog followed, I got to my room and closed the door then started blasting my show tunes playlist on my speaker, and started to get ready.  Hannah came into my room and said "I'm pretty sure the neighbors are still asleep"

I rolled my eyes and said "Do I look like I fucking care" I yelled as Hannah walked out of the room.  I did a very natural makeup look and wore an outfit that would work with all of the dancing.

While I was doing my eye makeup Watch What Happens (reprise) came on. And when we got to my favorite line "Going look it up the poor guys head is spinning" I sung and herd Hannah yell the line from the kitchen

TIME SKIP

I started to walk to the building where the auditions were held they were only 2 blocks away. I got into the rehearsal space and started warming up I went into my right split.

I heard someone start talking to me, I turned around and saw a blonde curly-haired boy. 

"I know you," he moved in front of me.

I looked through the files in my head for the blonde curly-haired boy.  File not found.  I moved into my left split.

"Do I know you?" I said in an unsure voice

"No," he said

I was very confused "How do you know me?" 

"I don't," he said confidently

"Is that your way of flirting with me"

"No," he said rubbing the back of his neck

I continued to stretch going into my straddle. Trying to focus on my audition. He continued talking to me.

"You got a name," I laughed. Did he just make a Newsies reference?

"Katherine Pl-Plumber" he chuckled a bit.

"No what's your real name," he said more seriously

"Y/n L/n, you"

"Ben Cook"

"Nice to meet you, Ben Cook," I said.

"I have a feeling we're going to be great friends, soooo can I have your number," he said confidently

"Sure why not" We exchanged phones and made contacts for ourselves.

I got up and started to warm up my voice. I sat down in the only empty chair. It was between two boys. There was a red-haired boy on my left and a brown-haired boy on my right. The red-haired one introduced himself.

"Hi, I'm Sky what's your name"

"Oh, I'm y/n nice to meet you" I said startled, then the brown-haired boy introduced himself.

"Hey, I'm Josh"

'Hi, I'm y/n"

"I know," he said, "I heard you talking to Sky," he said

"Y'all know each other," I said confused.

"No, we just met," said Sky

"I think we could be a great trio," said Josh, Ben then walk up towards the group

"Hey, Josh and Sky," he said excitedly

"Wait Ben you know them," I said still somewhat confused

"No, I met them today," he said

I exchanged numbers with Sky and Josh. Then I got called into the audition room. I sang my audition song. And moved on the to dance part of the audition. We did a turn combo, and jump combo. And we're asked to tumble. 

After the audition, Ben, Sky, and Josh asked me out to lunch. We decided to go to Chick-fil-a. I got a chicken sandwich and a medium coke. We were about to leave and I decided to make a group chat.

I headed back to my apartment. I knocked on the door. Hannah opened it. Then I was greeted by Roo. I threw my bag down. And ran to the couch and laid down. My body was aching. Hannah was sitting in the armchair. She was watching Frozen her favorite Disney movie.

I felt a buzzing in my pocket. I took my phone out of my pocket. I got a text from Ben.

Ben: Do you want to ft

Y/n: can we do it in like 30 mins. My roommate wants to finish Frozen

Ben: Oh I love that movie and ya that's fine

"Why are you smiling at your phone," Hannah said, that startled me.

"Oh, I met a guy at the audition"

"Was he cute at least?" Hannah said as she got more and more excited that y/n had finally found someone

"Ya he was probably more hot than cute though," y/n said shyly, Hannah started squealing with excitement

FaceTime:

Ben: Hey

Y/n: hey, how was the rest of your day

Ben: better then I thought it would have been

Y/n: you ok

Ben: ya, it's you that made it better

Y/n: really

Ben: ya

Y/n: I have school tomorrow so should probably go to bed

Ben: I do too, do you do online

Y/n: ya, do you

Ben: ya, I do

Y/n: I got to go to sleep

Ben: bye

Y/n: bye

I plugged my phone in and put it on my bedside table. Then slowly drifted to sleep thinking of the blonde curly-haired boy Ben.
