3; We meet again

"Gogy, can we go to the palace yet?" Alex groaned. It was a Saturday, approximately 3 days after the whole incident.

"No, Prince Clay has to invite us first."

Alex, obviously not satisfied with this answer, continued to ask.

"Gogy, when is he gonna invite us? Gogy, I wanna go now. Gogy, I miss him. He was fun. You're boring. Gogy, can we please go?"

"Alex, stop. We're going to go get groceries. Get your shoes on."

"I don't know where my shoes are."

"Wh- Well, where did you have them last?"

"On my feet."

I internally facepalm.

"Come on, Alex. Help me find your shoes." I say, opening the coat and shoe closet.

"Gogy, I found them."

"Where?"

"On my feet."

I cannot handle this kid anymore. I need a break. I have been living off if 4 hours of sleep and the shop has been extremely busy since the prince visited. And then, when I try to sleep, my thoughts keep me awake again. That stupid prince, just had to come and make me run on 3 cups of coffee and 2 hours of sleep.

Who am I kidding? This is the most profit I've had in literal months.

We're walking toward the marketplace. I have my hand gripped tight on Alex's wrist. Who knows what that kid's gonna do? Anyway, there's a coffee shop that gives me a free cup of coffee because I'm friends with the owner. Well, not exactly free because I always insist on paying the full amount, but it's whatever.

"Hi, Niki!"

The girl working at the counter turned around.

"Oh, hi Georgie!" She smiles.

"You know what I'm here for, the good stuff." I say, pulling out my wallet.

"You know you don't need to pay, right? I know you're overworked."

"Shhh, just take it, Niki." I hand the money to her. She sighs, and takes the money. She turns around to brew my coffee.

"So, how's business?" I ask.

"Eh, it's okay. Are you getting enough sleep? Don't tell me you're living off of coffee, Georgie."

"You betcha, now give."

She cracks a smile and hands me my coffee.

I suddenly feel a rush of adrenaline.

"Where's Alex?"

"What do you mean?" Niki looks at me with confusion. I start to panic.

"W-Well, he was right here. I was holding h-his hand. Oh my g-god.."

I frantically look around the shop, scanning every corner for Alex. In the distance, I can make out Alex running towards the palace gates. What the fuck.

"Niki," I look at her with distress. "He's going to the palace."

"Oh my goodness.."

I grab Niki by the hand and start running towards Alex.

"ALEX!!! GET BACK HERE!!" I scream. He turns around and sticks his tongue out at me. Niki stumbles a bit, but is back on her feet after getting used to running. This cannot be happening.
