Chapter 1: live for where she cannot

I walked through the halls of Ouran. I was checking out the clubs and when I saw a sign that said music room my heart swelled. I love all kinds of music! I opened the door and saw boys and no musical instruments. "A new princess?" I already knew all their names. Tamaki dashed to my side and pulled a rose out of nowhere. "Please come join us." He said and the doors closed behind me. "Sorry, I was looking for a music room. I saw your sign and must have gotten over excited." I said and they sat me down, "what type are you into?" Tamaki asked trying to seduce me. "The natural type?" Haruhi Fujioka smiled and waved to me, "the cool type?" Kyoya looked up to me then back down to his pineapple computer. "The silent type?" Mori nodded to me, "the boy-Lolita type?" Honey began to jump on me when Mori stopped him. "The mischievous type?" The twins gave me a Cheshire cat smile. "Or-" he said lifting my chin so I looked him in the eyes. "Maybe I'm your type?" He said, "I, in fact don't think I have a type." I said and got up, "I'm sorry but I was looking for a music room, I appear to have the wrong room. I apologize that you had to do that whole introduction for nothing." I said and bowed, "good day to you all." I said and was about to leave when Honey jumped on my back. My heart is weak and because of this my whole body is weak. I fell down, my heart beating faster and all I could hear is a ringing in my ears.

I woke up with the whole host club surrounding me. "Are you alright Aki-Chan?" Honey asked, "what happened?" Haruhi asked removing a compress from my head, "Aki Higanbana has a weak heart. She was recently discharged from an Ootori hospital on her demand." Kyoya said as I sat up, "in return she has a weak body." He continued. "I'm sorry Aki-Chan!" Honey yelled and hugged me, "for what? I think that it was possibly my fault." They looked at me, "how?" Haruhi asked, "no clue, give me a minute." I said and thought. "I really don't think this was anyone's fault." I said and stood up, "I need to go find the actual music room." I said and waved at them.

Once Aki left the Host Club asked for more information about her. "She, as I said, recently left the hospital on her demand. They said that she couldn't sing or play in the hospital so she left. She now attends my class, she has quickly risen to second place, nearly pushing first. Her parents, the last of the Higanbana family, has always had this weak condition and they have already written their wills leaving their daughter their soul heiress to their vast fortune." Kyoya said and he looked a bit sad, this was possibly the first time the other hosts saw this. "Aki has also been diagnosed... she may not live until this next winter." Haruhi looked back to the door, "do you think she'll..." she couldn't finish, they heard a loud thud from next door. They all rushed over and saw Aki covered in dusty curtains. She kept coughing and tried to get up but then she froze as she saw the Host Club. "Hey guys, what can I do for you?" She said, Mori picked her up and tried to get the curtain away from her. "Sorry, I was just trying to get some light in here. The bulbs weren't working for the life of me." She said and ran a hand through her dusty honey colored hair. "Do you need help?" Tamaki asked, "what?" Aki said with humor in her voice, "thanks but no thanks." She said and they all starred at her. The bell rung meaning that the club activities were over. Aki looked at the fallen curtain and up to the staff holder at the top. "See you guys later." She said and picked up the heavy velvet. Kyoya dragged the Host Club out, "she's one of those do it yourselfers." He said, Mori walked back in and tried to helped her hang the drapes back. "No man," she said and pushed him out. "I can do it myself!" She said and closed the door, "she really doesn't want help..." Kaoru said and they heard another thumping sound. "Get back up there!" She yelled coughing. A few seconds later they heard Aki fall again and they didn't hear her yelling. Haruhi walked in and gasped. The rest of the Host Club came in and the whole room was clean and Aki was looking up to the curtain smiling. "How?" Honey asked, she turned around and had a bump on her head and a slightly bleeding cheek. "Once I got the first set of drapes up and dusted I decided to just do the whole room." She said with a smile on her face. Kyoya lifted her chin, even though she was only a few inches shorter than him. "Be more careful mademoiselle, wouldn't want your pretty face to get all scratched up." Kyoya said, "You need not use such formalities with me." She said as he put a thing of gauze pad on her cheek and medical taped it to her skin. She smiled and her phone began to play an unknown song. "She pulled out her blue phone and flipped it open. "Hello?" She said and smiled, her smile soon shrank and she closed her phone. "I'm sorry, I have to go." She said and grabbed her bag and dashed out of the room.

»Aki point of view«

My phone began to ring and I flipped it open. "Hello?" I asked smiling at the Host Club. "Miss Higanbana, your parents are in the hospital. Their asking for you. I'm sorry." I heard our doctor. My smile disappeared and I shut my phone and shoved it into my bag, "I'm sorry, I have to go." I said and began to run to the hospital.

When I got their my lungs hurt, my legs ached, I didn't know how much longer I could stand. I walked into the disinfectant smelling room. The sound of the monitor wrapped my ears, beating simultaneously with my own. "Mom." I said and sat beside my father he was shaking as he cried. "Aki..." her voice was soft. I took hold of her hand, "mom, please don't leave. I still need to have my awkward teenage moments with you." I said as the tears steamed silently down my cheeks. She chuckled as she motioned me to come lower. She kissed my forehead, "My darling child, I bless you, to have everlasting happiness. Never stop smiling. Do it for me, okay?" She said, tears ran down her sickly white skin, her lips pulled up into a smile, "I'll never stop. Never ever!" I said and smiled as the monitor continuously beeped. My smile dropped and I brought it back up, "never ever!" I cried into my father's chest.
