Chapter 7
I was jostled awake and I opened my eyes and looked around, blinking trying to dispel the sleepiness.
“What,” I croaked.
“Time to get moving, we have a long journey ahead of us.” John said handing me clothes.
I groaned as I put on the clothes and sat back down.
“Where are we going?” I asked rubbing my face.
“I’ll tell you when we get going,” John grabbed my hand and pulled me up. “Lets go,” he pulled out of the cave and we stopped in front of two powerful black horses.
“We are riding that?” I asked.
“No, we are going to eat them,” he said sarcastically. “Of course we are going to ride them. Now get on,” he snapped annoyed.
“No,” I said crossing my arms.
“What?”
“N.O, no!”
John pinched the bridge of his nose.
“Why?” he whispered struggling to check himself.
“Your being a crab and I want to why?”
John groaned and walked up to me and grabbed my shoulder and he rest his forehead against mine.
“Sorry, its we have to go to a place where I don’t have to be, but we have to go anyway. Sorry for snapping at you.” He kisses my lips softly. “Now get on.”
“But I am afraid of horses?” I said looking at the huge beast.
“I don’t have time for childhood fears,” John snapped and picked me up and set me on the saddle and handed me the reins. I grabbed the reins and looked away. I saw John get on his horse and we trotted away.
John slowed his horse so we were neck to neck.
“I’m sorry,” John said grabbed my hand.
“So where are we going?”
“To a place that my father used to own.”
“Used to?”
“They were executed, my mother was beheaded and my father suffered the worst fate. His wings were ripped out then his horns were torn out and his tail cut off and then finally beheaded.”
“How awful?”
“Why, they deserved it, they were vile and cruel, they banished me to a crappy superstitious town and ruled the demonkind with cruelty and fear. Since they are now dead it’s up to me, if I don’t want to rule I can find a successor and continue on. That is where we are going.”
“Okay… Can we stop now my legs are hurting?”
John turned in his seat looking at me incredulous.
“The sun is not halfway in the sky and you want to stop?!” he said shocked.
I moaned and shifted in my saddle in discomfort.
“Grr… FINE!!!” he shouted and we stopped.
“I love you,” I said sweetly.
“Mhmm,” he said looking away.
