New York. Auntie. Sister-in-law. Sister. And now Lawyer at one of the best law firms. First day at the firm in a couple of hours and I'm living in New York with my best friend Joel and my twin sister and her HUSBAND. I can't believe my sister got married and my other sister has twins. Now I live in New York. I still can't believe it.
I got all my clothes ready yesterday and I'm sitting having pancakes Joel made. After years of friendship I didn't know he was an artist with food. I had a long day in front of me and a lot of work or I was hoping.
I wanted to be given a case straight away and thrust straight into work but they might have to brief me first or what I don't know. I've read a lot about the firm, the managing partner seems like an amazing powerful woman and the senior partners have a lot of cases under their belt. I can't wait to meet them. With Christina still off work just know she and the twins came up and Spencer joined them the week later after spending some time with his mother. Our father still hasn't met them yet and Christina isn't going to let him anytime soon, he is still in prison and will be for god knows how long. Joel got a job working for the NYPD as a trainee ME and he seems to be doing good and he's loving it. Avery's business The Wise Flower Art Gallery.
Everything was looking up and I was on my way to my first day of work and I left in enough time that I could walk to the firm and take in the New York way. The people. The Traffic. The Smell. The Atmosphere. It all made me love this city more. It was nothing compared to walking to the club each day. This was a proud walk. On my walk I realized I walked past Avery's gallery which made me smile. Knowing that I would walk to work and see them working was an achievement that could not have gone better.
As I was walking I saw a guy in a suit speed past me on a bike. He seemed in a hurry or that was how he woke himself up I wasn't sure. He also had a messenger bag. Maybe he's a lawyer too, maybe he has his own business or maybe he's a teacher.
Thinking that the guy on the bike could be a teacher made me think about Ian, someone who I hadn't seen in so long. We sleep together once and it never really changed anything.
My "problems" at home had been more on my mind than he had and I wasn't ready to be called out in school after working so hard to get to where I am now. I deleted his number and anything else, I had turned to a new chapter. The New York Chapter. The chapter where I become the person I wish my parents had been but nothing stopped me. I quit Playpen in perfect timing to where I was leaving LA hours after.
Everything in my life has been timing, good and bad and now it was looking straight ahead. Straight ahead at the massive building where I would be working. I walked in the door and got in to the elevator to the floor or the offices. As I walked in I could see the firm name and I try to recall everything I knew about the people that worked here. I was to meet with one of the senior partner before getting settled. I walked to reception and asked for the office. I was directed to the left and found myself in front of his door.
"You can go in, He's expecting you" a red haired woman said smiling. I nodded and walked in the office.
"Shaw Emily Merrick. Highest in her class. Finished school early and was accepted here. Welcome." The blonde haired man said turning to face me. Handsome blonde man may I correct.
"It's an honor to meet the best closer in New York. It's a pleasure Harvey Specter"
