Next thing he knew, Swayam was shaking him again, this time not because of the nightmare but because they both overslept.
"What time is it?" Ishaan as groggily.
"It's 7:40. Get up fast or you'll be late for work."
That woke Ishaan in a jiffy. He is supposed to leave the apartment at 8 if he wants to reach his office in time.
After 25 minutes, Ishaan was finally in his button-up shirt with dress pants and a blazer, with a gelled quiff hairstyle, not a single hair out of place. With a peck on Swayam's cheek, Ishaan left for his work. Swayam had a week off today so he would be home for the whole day. Ishaan rushed out of the building in a hurry to get to his bike. He just hoped against all odds that the traffic would be less than usual today.
He reached the college exactly five minutes before his lectures started and let out a sigh of relief.
The day went on longer than usual and he had to stay untill the evening to finish his work. Ishaan left the college at 6 in the evening and was a victim of Mumbai's terrible rush hour traffic.
It was eight'o clock by the time he reached home. Even though he was tired, he was in a very good mood today. Why won't he be? It was his and Swayam's anniversary today. Fifth anniversary to be precise. He still couldn't believe that he and Swayam were officially together for five years. It still felt surreal to him to have such a amazing person in his life for so many years. Even before they started dating, Swayam was always his strength, helping him through his worst years of life. He couldn't have been more thankful to have Swayam by his side forever.
They had this weird tradition where they did not even mention anniversaries and birthdays until the evening when they would both be back from work. It was their little custom that they always followed and so Ishaan did not know if Swayam remembered their anniversary or not.
With a giddy smile, Ishaan speed-walked into the building, towards the lift. The lift-ride felt exceptionally slow today. With a bouquet of Swayam's favourite flowers in one hand, Ishaan opened the door to their flat and announced, "Babe, I'm..."
