That statement was the last straw. Ishaan could not hold his feelings in any further.

"All my life everything I ever did was to make you and Maa happy. The first time I think of myself and do something for my happiness, I become a disappointment to you? Is it so hard for you to see me happy, huh? So what if I love a guy? That doesn't change me as a person. I am still the same person. Still your son."

"YOU ARE NOT MY SON!"

"Papa just stop it." This was the first time Ishaan had ever raised his voice against his dad.

"If you don't stop this right now—"

"Do whatever you want to do Papa, I won't stop loving him."

Rajesh just stayed silent for a while, then said, "Come on Sunita, we are leaving."

Ishaan's mom, Sunita got to her feet and dragged herself towards the door.

With a hand on the doorknob, Ishaan's father turned around and said, "You are going to regret this. Both of you."

With that he walked out of the house. The only ones left in the room were the Swayam's parents and the owners of the house.

Swayam's mom, who was silent the whole time came up to them.

"Ishaan" she said softly. "Do you really love my son?", she asked.

"More than my life."

"I don't understand whatever this is, but if you both love each other who are we to say that it's wrong?"

At this Ishaan turned to look at Swayam who was looking at his mother with tears streaming down his face. Swayam's mom suddenly reached out and embraced both of them.

Ishaan couldn't help but let a few of his own tears fall. It felt good to have a motherly embrace and Ishaan couldn't help but miss his mom. After a while she let them go.

"You both know that this road isn't going to be easy right? Your Papa will not make this easy for the both you and neither will the society. We both will be by you but you would have to fight you battle yourself."

"Yes Papa. We are ready for it as long as we are together." Swayam replied as he slipped a hand through Ishaan's, intertwining their fingers together. They knew in their hearts at that moment that as long as they had each other, everything would be fine.
