A Week Later...
May and I decided to play chess in the library one afternoon.
"I'm so glad that someone in this house knows how to play. I've been playing with myself," May giggled.
"My grandma taught me how to play. I was the head of chess club at school," I said with a smile.
May's smile faded. "Nobody taught me how to play. I learned myself," she said sadly.
"Well that's okay. That's super impressive," I said with a smile.
Her eyes lit up. "Really?" She asked me.
"Really," I responded.
She beamed. "Your move," she said.
"What are you girls doing?" Cordelia asked with a smile.
"Playing chess," I responded, smiling at May.
"Fun. I have a favor to ask, Delilah," Cordelia said.
Suddenly, Lea and Jennifer walked into the room. They stood behind Cordelia and looked annoyed; as per usual.
"Um... Sure?" I said suspiciously.
"Would you mind accompanying Lea and Jennifer to a party tonight? They can't travel by themselves; they need a third person. And everyone else seems to be busy. So will you go?" She asked.
I hesitated and thought of a few excuses. "I uh...," I said.
"See? We told you she wouldn't," Jennifer said.
"Yeah let's just go upstairs," Lea said.
"No, no. I'll go. What time?" I asked.
"What?" Lea asked in surprise.
"What time?" I repeated.
"9:30," Jennifer answered.
"I'll be ready then," I said.
Lea raised her eyebrow. "Fine. Thanks," she said and left. Jennifer followed.
Cordelia smiled. "That was nice of you," she said.
"Nobody else wanted to go, huh?" I asked with a small laugh.
"You were the last person on their list," She admitted.
I chuckled. "Of course I was."
"Don't take it personal. They're just... very... judgmental. And they didn't see you as the party type," she explained.
I raised an eyebrow. "Uh huh. Sure," I said.
She sighed and smiled. "Well... Being judgmental comes with being a B-I-T-C-H sometimes," she said.
May giggled. "They are," she whispered.
"I think May can handle a few swear words, Cordelia. She's reading Twilight," I said.
