Wanda.
"Goodnight, Bucky." I bid farewell to the soldier, smiling gently at him. He returned the gesture with a polite nod, before leaving and walking in the direction of his own room. I liked Bucky a lot, but not in the way people believed I did. I actually had my eyes on someone else. Either way, though, he was an incredibly sweet guy. I spent a lot of my time with him, as well as Steve, since both of them had been accidentally associated with HYDRA at one point or another. It was nice having shared life experience with someone.
I listened carefully, waiting for his footsteps to fade enough, to be sure that he wasn't about to notice me sneaking out of my room. It made me feel like a teenager to have to do this every night, but part of me enjoyed it. There was this exciting kind of adrenaline that came with the task. Finally, his footsteps faded completely and I took that as my queue to run.
Slipping out of my room and shutting the door quietly behind me, I began to speed walk in the direction of her room. She knew I was coming and I knew she'd be waiting for me. The thought alone filled me with excitement. I began smiling to myself and attempting to hide my giggles, my bare feet patting against the floor. I loved that sound, just not when I was sneaking around and needed to be quiet.
Rounding the last corner, I felt my body collide with something hard. "Shit!" I squeaked, realising it was a person and quickly gripping onto their shirt to hold myself up. It was possibly the worst person I could have run into actually. Tony Stark. I had recently gotten over my grudge against the man, realising that he did indeed have good intentions. Most of his screw ups were accidental. Something told me that I was about to be holding a different type of grudge against him though.
"Woah." Tony grunted, gripping both of my elbows and helping me stand back on my feet. "Why the rush?" He questioned, his eyebrows furrowing together with curiosity. I quickly hit the search button on my brain, attempting to think up some sort of quick excuse. Tony was never type to let things go and so I had to think up something good. Him finding out about me and Natasha wouldn't be all that bad, but we simply enjoyed the adrenaline that secrecy brought us.
"Uh... I really gotta pee." I blurted out, not even thinking about what I was saying. It was a stupid answer and I knew it. Considering Natasha's room was right at the end of the hall, it wasn't exactly hard to figure out exactly where I was going. Part of me hoped that for once, he would just play dumb and simply ignore the situation. Of course, that was just wishful thinking and would never actually come true when I wanted it to.
"In Natasha's room?" He suspiciously continued to interrogate, almost making me just want to run past him at full speed. It would be no use, though. This was Tony Stark we were talking about. He'd probably blow a hole in the wall and then hire one of his minions to fix it after he'd seen what was going on in there. There wasn't much escaping him, so I just had to come up with another lie.
"Yeah... her bathroom's better than mine." I lied, knowing again I had caught myself in another lie. He was going to figure this out if I kept it up. I was going to have to ask Natasha to teach me a few of her tricks when it came to secrets. I had never been good at lying to people, or even 'withholding the truth.' When I was little, my mother used to tell me how bad it was to lie. She called it 'obstruction of justice,' though I never actually knew what that meant.
"Your bathrooms are exactly the same." He stated, crossing his arms over his chest and staring at me as if he knew there was something going on. I tried to convince myself that he didn't actually know anything and thought up the last lie I hoped to tell that night.
"It's a girl thing," was all I said, before simply walking past him and in the direction of Nat's room. I could have sworn I heard him mumble a quiet 'whatever you say.' but simply chose to ignore it.
