Wanda.
Tonight was game night. The one night where every single person in the Avengers compound got together. A method of bonding inspired by Sir Nicholas Fury. It was his idea to host said event every couple of weeks, hoping to help people overcome their issues with one another.
Nine times out of ten, the night ended with some kind of argument. Most of the time, it was Steve and Tony. Other times, it was people such as Sam and Bucky. They could just never seem to get along, no matter the circumstances. Most of the hostility in that fight came from Sam, holding some kind of permanent grudge against the super solider.
On that one night out of ten, where the evening didn't end in a brawl, everyone actually seemed to enjoy themselves. Tonight seemed to be one of those nights. We had chosen not to play a competitive game, in the hopes that it would lessen the tension in the room. Now, we were simply playing truth or dare. A kids' game, really, but it was fun either way.
It was perfect for me. Not only because I got to bond with the rest of the team, but also because I spent the entire night cuddled up beside my gorgeous girlfriend. Everyone on the team now knew we were dating, which Natasha was okay with, to my surprise. She didn't mind showing me off to the team. The only times we had to hide our relationship anymore was when we were in public, simply due to Natasha's fear that people who wanted to hurt her would hurt me.
None of that mattered in this moment. We were together - surrounded by our best friends - and we were happy. It was fun playing games like this with her. She was so serious sometimes, it was nice to see her loosen up a little. She always chose dare, rather than truth, but I guess that was what came with the whole 'being a spy' thing.
Actually, my favourite part of the night had been watching Natasha participate in the game. For example, Peter actually dared Natasha to attempt a back flip - which she did, by the way. There was also another dare - assigned to Natasha by Sam - to give me a lap dance. Everything Natasha does is insanely attractive to me, but having everyone in the room watch as she did it felt a little too awkward for my liking.
We sat together the entire night, hand in hand. Every time something funny happened, we would look at each other, sharing every good moment in the company of our own favourite person. The night was going dashingly well and I almost felt as though it was a little too good. Forgive me for seeming like such a Debby Downer, but it was unusual for nights like this to actually end on a good note. I almost felt as though I was waiting for something to go wrong.
"Alright, I actually have something to say." Tony randomly announced out of the blue. I bit my lip, wondering whether this was going to be it. Was Tony about to say something that could ruin the night? He stood up - a glass in his hand that I knew contained some harsh kind of liquor - slowly walking towards the elevator. Everyone eyed him, suspiciously.
"Pepper and I have been talking. When I say we've been talking, that actually means she was telling me something I needed to hear and I, being the comedic genius that I am, completely ignored her advice." He stated, placing his glass down on the counter for a second. He took his glasses off for a moment, using the end of his tie to seemingly wipe away whatever was on there.
"But this time, she said something that actually caught my attention." He went on, placing his glasses back on his face and finally coming to a halt, standing in front of the elevator. "She told me that if I wanted to have some kind of family with her one day... I was going to have to show her that I could be a good person to people even when I didn't have to be. She told me to prove that by doing something nice for a kid."
"Maximoff." He called out, suddenly catching my attention. Why was he addressing me? I thought Tony hated me, in all honesty. After everything that had gone down with the whole group division thing and him literally locking me away, I didn't exactly feel like we were on the greatest of terms. I raised my eyebrow in reply to him calling me out, feeling Natasha grip my hand in an almost defensive manner.
