Y/N POV:
You had woken up after being taken somewhere where refugees had to go who were lucky enough to get on the boat. You were awake before Reiner and Annie but noticed that Bertolt was gone. You tried looking around inside the place you were but couldn't find him, you checked outside and saw him looking at the stars on a rooftop.
"Bertolt what are you doing?" You asked confused why he wasn't sleep with the others.
"Do you feel sorry for them?" Bertolt asked you while still looking towards the starry night ignoring your question.
"Huh? Do you mean all these refugees?" You asked
"We made them lose everything, just for our mission." Bertolt said quietly
You climbed up onto the roof he was on and put a hand on his shoulder.
"I know you feel bad, we took everything from them, but we had no other choice Bertolt." You said looking at the stars with him.
You both were quiet you hadn't though of anyone hearing anything you heard but you wouldn't care. Bertolt finally spoke again this time look at you.
"Are we monsters?" He said looking at you with a saddened face.
"We're monsters in their eyes, but we're Warriors Bertolt we have to keep moving forward don't we? I do feel bad for them, but we have to keep moving forward until we find the founder. We'll go home by then Bertolt we'll be Hero's." You said
Bertolt looked at you before looking at the roof tiles.
"You're right we'll be Hero's right? We should go back before anyone notices us." Bertolt tells you before slowly getting off the roof and heading back inside.
You looked at the night for while thinking about what Bertolt said, you were monsters. This world was cruel but you had to what they told you it was your mission. After a while you got off and went inside to find Reiner and Annie sleeping, but Bertolt had that weird sleeping position every time.
"Maybe it's gonna be sunny tomorrow?" You thought. You always tried to guess the weather tomorrow by Bertolt's sleeping position and most of the time it worked. You got tired after a while and went back to sleep thinking about what Bertolt was saying before.
"Are we monsters?"
The Next Day
You woke up by Annie slapping your face which did hurt, even if she did hoody back.
"Wake up already they're handing out "rations" or just dried bread." Annie said annoyed
"Fine Annie, but couldn't you have woken me up better than just slapping me?" You told her.
Though it was much better than getting kicked in the face like Reiner which is how Annie woke him up if he overslept during the time we were going towards the wall. You went out and noticed a lot of people getting rations from people in uniforms which you assumed were soldiers. Most of the soldiers seem annoyed when handing out rations, especially one which handed out three pieces of bread towards a small blonde haired boy.
"Hey Annie where's Reiner and Bertolt?" You asked Annie wondering where they headed off to.
"Beats me I wouldn't care where they headed out if it gets Reiner away from me." Annie said coldly towards you before heading off to get a ration.
You went looking around for them before stopping seeing the same kid on the boat getting a ok angry at a soldier. The soldier was pissed at the kid before the blonde boy you saw before protected his friend and dragged him away.
"What's with that kid?" You wondered with that kid who always seemed angry every time you saw him.
You continued searching for Reiner or Bertolt before you found them talking.
"Where the hell did y'all go?" You asked.
"We were looking for anything interesting from these soldiers but they only seem mad at us for taking their rations." Reiner told me
Bertolt was quiet and was holding a piece of beard. You were surprised when he held it out towards you.
"Here Y/N I don't think you ate since yesterday." He told you while handing you the piece of beard.
You thanked him before eating a piece of the beard which tasted dry, but it was still better than nothing I guess. You continued eating it until you were done.
"What can we do here which is going to be helpful with our mission?" You asked Reiner trying to find anything interesting here.
"There's nothing we have do now, we have to wait until we can get into the military to know more intel about the whereabouts of the Founder." Reiner said.
You groaned knowing that it would take a couple of years before you can join the military and hopefully find something useful about the founder.
Narrater POV;
A few days late the refugees had to plow as a lay ditch effort to save food. It didn't work and the following year refugees old enough to serve in the military had to go try to retake Wall Maria. Y/N, Annie, Reiner, and Bertolt were all lucky enough to not go on that journey to retake Wall Maria, not even 200 made it back from that mission. Their sacrifice helped the other refugees get enough rations to live another day.
When the years passed, Y/N and the others were finally old enough to be able to join the military as cadets.
Y/N POV:
You tunes out the speech that the instructor was telling everyone. The instructor known as Keith Shadis started walking around in-front of us as he started screaming at some poor cadet that was noticed by him you ignored them as you only had one goal in here.
