Chapter One: Meeting the Devil

It's almost the end of the year and Sawamura and his best-friend Wakana are walking home together.

[WAKANA]: Sorry we couldn't take you to the Kanto Tournament Sawamura.

[Sawamura]: It's ok you guys did the best that you could. Plus I had a blast playing with my friends.

Wakana giggles and turns to Sawamura. Sawamura stops in his tracks and looks at her confused.

[Wakana]: So what are you going to do about the test?

Sawamura looks away from Wakana and turns to the sky. He sighs and removes his bookbag to pull out the test papers.

[Sawamura]: I don't understand why it's still unknown, maybe I'm a beta?

[Wakana]:  Maybe....

The rest of the walk home is silent. As Wakana leaves to her house Sawamura enters his home. About to shout his presence he notices an extra pair of shoes beside his door. Women's heels.  He removes his shoes and proceeds to walk into his house to see a younger lady and his family sitting down at the dining table. The younger lady stands as he walks in and walks up to him.

[Rei]: Hello Sawamura, I'm Takashima Rei.

The lady holds out her hand and Sawamura grabs it and returns a handshake. He looks at his parents who both look excited.

[Rei]: I'll cut it short, I'm here from Seido Highschool and I want to you to be a member of our baseball team.

Sawamura is taken back by the information he has just received. 

[Sawamura]: S- scout me? But why?

[Rei]: You would be an exceptional member to our team I see great potential in you.

Sawamura looks at his parents whose faces are pratically begging him to say yes. Though his mind wanders to his friends.

[Sawamura]: I- I don't know, I mean my test still says unknown wouldn't that cause problems?

[Rei]: For now it's ok if it starts to develop in High school we would still be able to deal with it. I don't need your answer now, but maybe you'd like to come to the school and see what Seido's like yourself?

[Sawamura]: I'd be happy with that.

[Rei]: How about tomorrow, the sooner the better?

[Sawamura]: That works for me.

The younger lady sits a pamphlet in the hands of the boy and gets escorted to the door by his parents. Sawamura looks through it and is amazed at the different types of people on the team. He sits it down at the table and places his head on it. The rest of the day his mind wanders about the trip that he would be taking the next day that he barely gets sleep.

As promised Sawamura meets Rei at the train station, they board the train and takes a seat. Rei can see that Sawamura is nervous so she places a hand on his lap and gives him a reassuring smile. They arrive and make their way to the fields. Sawamura's face is shocked from the amount of equipment and people there were on the fields. Rei notices and giggles slightly. They make their way to the main field where the members are doing batting pratice.

[Rei]: As you can see everyone here works very hard at everything.

She starts pointing and naming people to Sawamura but his eyes wander to another direction. The bullpen. He sees the figure of a well built catcher, he was intrigued and wanted the male to face his way. Rei notices and smiles. 

[Rei]: We can go over there if you'd like.

[Sawamura]: H- Huh no we can continue with the batters.

His focus goes back to the batters, specially to this one, he looks up at Rei.

[Sawamura]: Who is he?

[Rei}: That Azuma, he's one of the best batters on the team.

Sawamura looks eager at the response. "One of the best huh?" How would I pitch against one of the best.

She laughs and claps her hands and everyone stops what their doing and shoots their attention to her and Sawamura.

[Rei]: Everyone this is Sawamura

Sawamura taken back by the sudden introduction he turns red and bows. Azuma looks at him and yells, "What position do you play?"

Sawamura whispers " I- im a pitcher."

[Azuma]: I can't hear you.

[Rei]: It's okay Sawamura, He's a pitcher, and I was wondering if you could show him what it means to be a batter.

As Rei is talking his eyes wander to the bullpen hoping to see the male he seen before. But he wasn't there. He faces Rei and is surprised by what she last said.

[Azuma]: Of course I can! Look here shorty you better be ready.

Sawamura smiles at the sudden challenge and is handed a ball by Rei.

[Rei]: You'll need a catcher. ON-

She's interrupted by the four eyed catcher.

[Miyuki]: Actually can I do the honors?

Sawamura freezes at the voice that can be heard from being him. He looks down at his feet.

[Rei]: This is perfect.

She grabs Sawamura's arm turning him around to face the catcher. Still looking at his feet he slowly looks up. 

[Rei]: Sawamura this is Miyuki Kazuya, he's our first string catcher.

Sawamura's eyes meets Miyuki's. As he though this was the catcher he saw in the bullpen. The catcher gives him a sly smile and Sawamura's face turns red. He quickly looks down. Miyuki takes more steps until he's positioned right infront of Sawamura. He leans down to whisper in his ear.

[Miyuki]: Nice to meet you Sa- Wa- Mu- Ra.
