"Half a pound of tuppenny rice

Half a pound of treacle

That's the way the money goes

pop goes the weasel"

Izaya sang softly while swaying slightly as he prepared breakfast. Sebastian was outside dealing with Pluto and Izaya felt the urge to help. Izaya continued to hum the tune as he mixed up a bowl of pancake batter he had just made from scratch. He decided to make something sweet due to the master's sweet tooth. After Ciel had fallen asleep last night it took a while for Izaya to actually be able to leave due to the boy's tight grip, but even so he was beginning to grow attached to the young boy. Was this how he was with Sebastian? If so he could understand why his brother cared so much for the young Earl. Today they were planning on picking up a new walking stick for Ciel. Apparently this was the third one this month. All of his walking sticks were broken by the servants mistakes. Honestly, if they had worked for him he would have fired them by now, but then again, as guards they were some of the best Izaya had seen, by human standards of course. He continued mixing and was just about to place the batter onto a pan when a new smell entered the kitchen, it was familiar but new none the less. Izaya turned around to see what the source was. standing in the doorway was Ciel Phantomhive, rubbing his eyes before looking up at him with a sleepy expression, he was dressed in his sleepwear which smelled strongly of Sebastian. It was a given due to the fact it was his brother's shirt. Izaya checked his watch, the boy wasn't due to wake up for another hour. Placing the bowl on the counter he dimmed the fire a bit before he walked over and scooped up the sleepy boy into his arms. Ciel, who was too tired to properly process the situation yawned and buried his head into the crook of the older's neck, hugging him tightly while muttering incomprehensibly. Izaya carried him around as he poured the batter and washed some berries with one hand. It didn't take long for the young boy to fall asleep against him. Izaya proceeded to flip multiple pancakes into the air perfectly with one hand when three more scents caught his nose. Izaya payed them no mind as he recognized the gun powder, ash and smokey scent of Bard, the earthy scent of Finny and the dust, cleaning supplies, and even some slight disinfectant in the scent of Maylene he could hear their meddling gossip and cooing at the way Ciel curled up against him as if trying to gain more contact. It seemed that the child had grown just as attached to Izaya as he was to the boy. Izaya placed the plates of buttered pancakes down on the table and adjusted Ciel's position in his arms. He checked the clock and noticed the younger still had a little less than half an hour to sleep. He carried Ciel to look out a window. He watched as Pluto chased after Sebastian, who was chasing a beautiful calico cat. Izaya sighed at the sight, he never did understand his brother's obsession with cats. The younger demon chuckled slightly to himself. Anyone who knew them separately would think Sebastian was the more mature sibling of the two, but if they were to see how them acted together they would realize it's the other way around. Of course, there are still times when Sebastian would act more mature and Izaya would be more playful, like when they met again for the first time after the phone call and Sebastian packed Izaya's bags for him. Izaya's eyebrow twitched at the memory. He decided not think about that. Izaya was brought out of his thoughts by a squeaky voice. " Mr. Orihara?" Izaya turned around slightly to see the blond little girl from yesterday. That's right she slept over, Izaya had forgotten. Luckily he made more than enough food for everyone including young Elizabeth and Miss. Paula. Ciel squirmed slightly in his grasp and Izaya bounced him slightly. "Shh-shh-shh-shhhhh." once the boy calmed down he smiled at Elizabeth. "Lady Elizabeth, you're up rather early." The young girl looked at the boy sleeping soundly in Izaya's arms. "Why are you holding Ciel?" She asked in concern. Izaya held the boy a little closer. "Don't worry, he just woke up a little early too so he's still tired." Elizabeth grinned and nodded in understanding. "Let's not tell him yu saw him though, he might get angry if you did."  Elizabeth looked up at Ciel, a worried and slightly desperate look in her eye.  She really did look like she would do just about anything to please him. Elizabeth nodded again, she didn't want to say anything in fear of waking the one she loved. She turned around and quietly made her way towards her room. Izaya turned back towards the window only to see that his brother was no longer outside. Checking his watch again he could see why. It was time for Ciel to wake up. Izaya walked back to the kitchen and saw a kettle sitting on the stove, still hot due to being used only minutes ago. Some of the food he had made was gone as well. Izaya assumed Sebastian had taken it to the young master's bed room. Izaya walked to the room and opened the door to find his panicked older brother inside. Sebastian didn't care to turn around and look at his brother when he entered and simply began talking, "Iza the young master's gone! He was most likely kidnapped again like he always is but I can't smell anyone who could have taken him!" Izaya smiled slightly looking at the boy in his arms. He really was special. Izaya continued to watch his brother struggle for another minute before finally getting his attention again. "Calm down, he's right here." Sebastian whipped his head around to see the boy sleeping in his little brother's arms. A look of relief crossed his face before it turned into a pout. "He never snuggles like that with me." he grumbled and looked at Izaya accusingly. "How come kids always like you!" Izaya chuckled and sat down on the bed with Ciel in his lap. It was true though, children had always taken a liking to Izaya before Sebastian. Izaya assumed it had something to do with his scent, which was stronger than other demons. Strong enough that even a human like Shizuo could pick up on it. Children have always been more sensitive to the supernatural then adults were. Izaya just guessed that that was the reason they were attracted to him more. Izaya ran a hand through Ciel's hair and shook him awake gently. He had never cared about a human child before but he assumed that he should be gentle when waking him up. "Ciel? Wake up Ciel." Izaya watched with a sense of victory as the young Earl's eyes opened to reveal a beautiful pair of hetero-chromatic eyes. Ciel sat up in Izaya's lap. He looked around the room before letting his eyes land on the two demons in front of him. Izaya set him down on the bed and got up. A quiet whimper left Ciel's throat as he instinctively reached out for the demon and grabbing his sleeve. Ciel felt conflicted, he knew full well what the man was but at the same time, he felt so safe when he was by his side. Like he could be a child again and everything would be alright. The thought sounded ridiculous even to himself, especially given all that he's been through, but even so... The young boy held on to the man's sleeve and Izaya smiled. The boy really had grown attached to him. Izaya placed a hand on Ciel's head making the boy's eyes subconsciously close tightly. He knelt down to the boy's height. "After you get ready the three of us will go and get that walking cane, alright?" The boy nodded and Izaya stood up again, walking out of the room, ignoring his brother who was glaring daggers at him in jealousy. Izaya walked down the halls with a small smile on his face. That boy was making him soft.
