summary- you are new to the gang and are meeting everyone, when dutch introduces you to charles. he's usually so composed around everyone but not near you. the whole gang notices but you just think that's his personality
~character uses she/her pronouns and is portrayed as a cis female~"Well, Miss L/N," Dutch said as he shook your hand. "Looks like you're officially in the Van Der Linde gang. Remember," he said, suddenly serious. "Always trust me and always stick to the plan. I make the rules here and you and all the other gang members must stick to that. It's not as easy as some people might make it out to be, being an outlaw and all." He finally finished his intimidating speech and decided to introduce you to everyone else.
You'd already met Hosea, Dutch and Arthur in Valentine. You had tried to rob them but they knew what you were doing immediately, having used the tactics you were using themselves. Luckily enough for you, Dutch took a liking to you and after a night of questions and drinking, he had asked you to join the gang.
You had never really ran with a gang before, not really your style at all. But these people seemed different, more like a family than a gang, really. So you said yes. It was a rush of the moment kind of thing but the idea of being in a group of outlaws where there was always somebody to watch your back, was kind of exciting to you.
"Over here you have the women, Karen, Mary Beth and Tilly. I assume you'll be spending most of your time doing work with them, helping round the camp and doing some robbing work and the such." Dutch explained. You didn't really like the sound of having to just do simple robbing and cleaning, you wanted to shoot and fight, but you kept quiet. Not really the time to argue with the gang leader when he so kindly let you join.
"Then over here you have Mr Pearson, Miss Grimshaw and Mrs Adler. Folks, this is Y/N, our newest recruit." Dutch announced.
"Nice to meet you," grunted Mrs Adler, who you later found out was so miserable and quiet because she had lost her husband up in the mountains. You didn't really understand why she was like this. You had never really understood why people married and you had never even really understood love. Love wasn't something you had ever thought about for yourself.
Dutch continued introducing you to everyone around the camp. Sean, who was boisterous and cheery. Uncle, who suffered from a very serious illness called lumbago. Abigail, who was sitting with a young boy called Jack. Abigail looked lost and you noticed her staring at John a lot. You also later found out that John was the father of little Jack and that Abigail was desperately in love with him. Again you didn't really understand love.
The last person Dutch introduced you too was a tall dark man who was guarding the camp called Charles. "Charles, this is Miss Y/N L/N" he said, and you stuck out your hand to him.
Charles paused for a second and his eyes widened when he looked at you. "Oh, um, hello", he muttered, giving your hand a quick shake. He give you the tiniest smile and nod and then completely turned away.
From your perspective, it just seemed that Charles didn't really like human interaction and that he just kept to himself. He seemed awkward and shy and a tiny bit rude.
But of course, you didn't realise that all was buzzing through his mind was how beautiful you were and how he had never really felt this way when looking at someone before.

After just a few days, you had already started to take a liking to a lot of people in the camp. The only person you weren't really interested in getting to know was Micah, because he was just an annoying little prick. You also had some mixed emotions about Molly O'Shea as well. She seemed alright but she didn't really do any chores and she always seemed like she was in a mood.
