Jasmine's POV:
"I'm waiting..." Our headmistress said, staring at both of us.
"It was her!" We both said in unison.
The headmistress raised her eyebrows and we both glared at each toher.
"She decided it would be fun..." I started when Beatrice said, "She just threw food at me."
"Geez, can I not finish a line without you interrupting?"
"Yah, like you can talk." she rolled her eyes.
Beatrice crossed her arms and slanted her eyes at me.
"Go on, say it."
I sighed, "Ok, this nerd right here overheard my conversation and insulted my intellect. I mean, it's not like everyone here needs to be smart. We have nerds for that occasion. Besides, I just got a C in maths and she came by and laughed at me. I bet, she did this to bring me down, because she is jealous she doesn't have the perfect life like I do."
"Woah there!" Beatrice screeched, ready to pounce any moment now.
"Then," I recovered before Beatrice could butt in, " I told her politely to shut up and she threw her smoothie all over my beautiful top. My best friends, of course, couldn't just stand by and watch, which is why it ended up like this. I'm so sorry."
I covered my eyes and started wailing. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Beatrice's bewildered stare and Miss Wild's pitiful stare.
By the time I calmed down, Miss Wild cleared her throat.
"Well, I see your point, Jasmine. You will have a week's worth of detention and for Beatrice, two weeks."
"What!? You didn't even..." Beatrice protested.
"Do you want a month's worth of detention then?" Warning flashed through the headmistress's eyes. "Now go clean up and go to your class."
We both arose from our seats and grudgingly reached the door.
"Not yet, Miss Wheeler. I have something to discuss with you. It's something about your maths."
I grumbled slightly and slumped into my seat again.
"It's just that, you get all A's in other subjects, but not in maths, which is why I think a little push from one of your peers might help with your math." Miss Wild smiled reassuringly.
"Um...I think you have got something mixed up here. " I cocked my head forward. " I. Don't. Need. Any. Help." I slowly drawled out the words, hoping she would understand the dire situation at hand.
Really? Me, the most popular girl in the school, needing help? If news travelled fast enough, I would die of embarrassment. I'd rather do a whole stack of math sums every day than sit with a classmate and get taught. Just the thought of me relying on a classmate, is very unsettling.
Miss Wild frowned at my outburst and coughed, gaining my attention.
"Actually, I have already informed your parents that Mr Taylor will be helping you with your math whenever possible and he should be coming around now to meet up with you." Miss Wild said coldly.
My mouth was agape. I made a mental note to question at my parents about this tonight.
" Haha, you're kidding......right? Who is that?"
"I'm surprised you don't know me." A voice travelled from the door of the office.
Quick as lightning, I snapped my head to the door. There stood a tall, skiny guy with glasses around those grey blue eyes. His tousled brown hair hid some of his eyes and he wore an amused smile on his face.
" I'm Clay Taylor. Nice to meet you."
