Jeongin: Aww, she's so cute! Look at her little hands!

Chan: She's adorable, do you think she's the one?

I shake my head and turn to Chan.

Jeongin: She's cute, but I don't think I can trust myself with such a small child.

Chan nods and pats my head.

Chan: That's okay, let's keep looking.

He walks away and I sigh.

It's been 3 years since Chan proposed to me.

2 years since we got married.

1 year since we bought a new house and moved in.

And a week since we decided to start a family.

I can't get pregnant since I'm a guy, so we want to adopt.

Right now, we're at a local orphanage looking at our options.

We've met lots of cute kids so far, but I just don't feel that spark when I'm with them.

Chan: Baby, come with me. There are some older kids upstairs.

Jeongin: Okay, coming.

He holds my hand and leads me to a room filled with kids who are between the ages of 5-8.

Chan: Do any of these kids interest you?

I look around, eyeing each kid and how their behaving with the others.

They're all playing around as normal kids would.

But one, in particular, catches my eye.

I tap the shoulder of a volunteer working here, and she turns to me with a smile.

Volunteer: Yes, how may I help you?

Jeongin: Who is... she?

I point to the older boy sitting in a corner.

Volunteer: Oh, him? That's Suho, but he's 14. No one's ever wanted to adopt him.

Chan: Why?

Volunteer: Well... he came out as gay a year ago, and everyone who came here wanted a young toddler who they mold into a perfect kid. Nobody wanted a moody teenager who already has his own way of thinking.

Jeongin: Can we talk to him?

Volunteer: Uh, there are kids his age in the next room, I can show you-

Jeongin: No thank you, I want to talk to this boy in particular.

Volunteeer: O-oh, sure. Go ahead.
