I awoke to the stillness of the air and the smell of burning wood. I went to sleep last night and it was pouring now it's burning! It just doesn't make sense! The forest around me was burning so fast it was like thousands of termites eating at a house! I got up and realized I was wearing a dress! 'Great time to be in a dress!' I thought to myself.
I started to run. I grabbed the neck of my shirt and covered my nose and mouth so I wouldn't breath in the smoke. From what I could tell the forest fire went in for miles! I knew I couldn't run that far.
I stopped and started running when I noticed a burn in my arm! I touched it and it stung so bad! I started to run again afraid of making the burn worse, or getting more burns. I ran for about fifteen minutes when someone grabbed my arm and pulled me out of the forest and into a dark cave or tunnel I couldn't really tell. "Hey!" I shouted! They covered my moth so I would stop talking.
From what I could tell it was a boy. He seemed very strong and he was very tall! Also very skinny but it's very dark so I can't tell. He eventually let go and grabbed my hand. I pulled it out very quickly! "Who are you!" I demanded expecting an answer! "I'll tell you my name once you can see me. Cmon the tunnel isn't very long about an hours walk." At that moment I could tell it was a boy by his voice. Once again he grabbed my hand and started to lead me. I let him but still careful not knowing if I could trust him or not.
We walk for about an hour as he had said. When we reached the end of the tunnel I could finally see him. He was tall, about six feet or so, skinny and had dirty blond hair. He had freckles across his nose and he had blue eyes. I stood in shock. I couldn't believe that that's what he looked like! He was almost...handsome. He was very handsome.
He broke the silence right there. "My name is James." He said. "Jessabell" I smiled at him. "thank you for saving me and I'm sorry I kinda freaked out!"I apologized.
"No, no it's ok really I know what it's like to wake up in a burning forest, kinda scary right?" He responded "so anyway I was thinking since I haven't really seen anyone since the da-" he paused. I knew what he was going to say and I didn't want to be reminded. "Since the terrible incident happened, maybe we should stick together. you know like help each other." I was shocked to here that! And that's also when I realized he had a British accent!
"Ya that would be nice. And since we are going to be spending some time together we should get to know each other!" I responded!
"Yes! I'll go see if I can get some clean water and food! Wait here!" He said. I don't know why but I feel like I know him....
