Prologue

"Tell me how to get out of this mess Holden!" I practically screamed at him.

I rummaged around the deserted room looking for any keys or information, to locate where we were.

"I don't know, I'm just as clueless as you are Kira!" Holden answered back, "Stop pulling on my arm, you're going to rip it off".

"It's what I was planning to do anyways" I muttered".

"What did you just say!".

"Nothing," I paused, "How are we gonna tell our families and Mikaela?".

"We'll get out of this before they find out. Trust me" Holden replied, holding up our handcuffed wrists.

"Okay fine" I sighed, "I trust you".

"Come on silly, don't tell me you're not going out for your birthday!" Mikaela squealed.

"It's my birthday I can do what I want" I replied and stared up at the ceiling. It was painted blue with the planets astrology written on.

"Ugh you never want to do anything" Mikaela moaned and sat on my bed.

Mikaela Archer my sister. She was three years older than me, which makes her 21 and I am 18. She has red hair and green eyes with a diva attitude.

She always complains about us not hanging out together but when we do she complains again; it's a never ending routine.

Ever since our father died from cancer, she has been more rebellious and outgoing. Our father had died 4 years ago and it was pretty tragic.

I think Mikaela took our fathers death, harder that anyone else. They were always closer and I was closer to my mother.

When our father died, our mother buried herself in her work so we don't see her often. She sends money for food so I guess it's alright.

"Oh my god what are you wearing?" she said and pulled a face of disgust.

"Clothes?".

"Um no, that look was so last year".

I looked down at what I was wearing, I was wearing a blue camisole top with a flannel unbuttoned on top of it and dark blue jeans.

"I think I look fine".

Mikaela paused and got up to pace around the room and I sat on the bed. My room was moderately sized and I had a double bed. The walls were painted a light blue colour and I had a wardrobe at the corner of the room.

"It's the weekend and we are going out!" my sister finally exclaimed after her long train of thought.

"I was going to go out with Koralia!" I protested.

Koralia Cardor was my best friend from nursery. Our friendship begun when someone ruined my sandcastle in the sandpit, and she helped me make a new one. Not anything too dramatic but Koralia was the nicest person I knew.

"The Cardors? I hate them, call her and cancel".

Mikaela had an ongoing war with Koralia's brother, Mike Cardor; apparently it happened way back and she would never tell me about it.

Whenever I asked she said "It's nothing for you to worry about".

"I'll call her but don't be rude to Koralia".

"Okay, now call her!".

I picked up my phone from the bed and quickly scanned the 'Happy Birthday' messages, before I punched in her number. "Hello?" I said when the answer tone rang.
