Social Season was approaching quickly and Sebastian Carrington was determined to find his sister a suitable husband that met his high standards. He had heard talk while in America, the Carrington's were becoming boring. There was no high compliments about any of them. And Sebastian felt as if it was his duty to make sure the Carrington's remained one of the most prestigious and well known families. And a wedding was the perfect answer to the problem.
He of course had gotten married several years ago to Louise Harmond, while the youngest Carrington was only eight years old, meaning that the next wedding fell onto his sister's shoulders. He knew how much his sister had been trying to put off the idea of her marrying so soon, and it had worked for the past two years. Their father adored the carefree girl, who reminded him so much of his wife. Sebastian was going to London to change his mind.
Adeline would detest against the proposal, he already knew she would. So he hadn't informed his father of the real reason why he was visiting.
Finding Adeline a husband would be easy. But making her accept any marriage offers would be the hardest part. Of course, he only wanted the best of the best for her - she was after all known to be perfect, but she had a tendency to cause unwanted trouble.
While the carriage bumped up and down from the cobbled pavement below, he noted down a list of names he found to be suggestions. His wife sat across from him, looking out of the window, a book in her hand. She wasn't reading it however. Sebastian wasn't even sure she could read that well. Louise had come from a good enough known family to have obviously been taught how to read and write. But she wasn't the type of girl that enjoyed reading. Unlike his sister.
He dreaded the moment when Adeline and Louise were in the same house again. They both hated each other. Louise thought Adeline to be a troublemaker and not lady like. And Adeline hated Louise for judging her. There was also the reason being that Sebastian had once drank a little too much and admitted to his sister that he did not love Louise. And that he loved someone else instead. Luckily he had not told her who he had feelings for. And that the person he truly loved shared his feelings. But they could not be. And so he carried on pretending to love Louise. Now, most people may have thought this was toxic or cruel, but Louise held no love for Sebastian. The two got along, they had to considering they lived together, but it had been an arranged marriage.
With a sigh, Sebastian noted that they were nearing Carrington Manor, as people called it. The Carrington Manor was a sight to behold. Not only was it large and grand, but it held a mysterious but beautiful look to it. It remind him of a castle almost. The garden's were his favourite. He had grown up spending most of his time outdoors. Nowadays he had no time for a game of fencing or a horse ride, the latter of which he used to do with his sister. He still remembered the days when the two would take the afternoon and race each other under the hot sun. He was too old for fun now. He had responsibilities.
Responsibilities.
How much he wished he didn't have to associated that word with him. It was the downfall of his relationship with his family. They rarely sent letter's back and forth, and he had not visited them in years.
"Something troubling you, dear?" He looked up and across towards his wife, who had turned her attention away from outside towards him. She had her hands folded neatly in her lap, the book tucked under them. It was an action his sister always seemed to do. He held in an eye roll.
"Nothing my love." He lied through his teeth, sending her a small smile. He wouldn't admit to her that he was nervous. Nervous to see - her... again. They had left on bad terms. And no, he wasn't talking about his sister. But rather the girl he loved but couldn't be with.
He hoped his sister would be able to find love with however she would be marrying. For he had not been so fortunate.
He hastily put away his small notebook and pencil as the carriage pulled to a stop, the sound of horse hooves kicking the ground. The door to the carriage swing open as a small box step was placed down for Louise. The woman stepped out gently with the help of Gerald, who had come with them from America. Sebastian stepped out on his own, nodding a thanks to Gerald, who smiled politely back in return. Gerald was an old man. Someone who had been working for the Carrington's for years. Just like most of their staff had. He had moved to America with Louise and Sebastian all those years ago. Sebastian favoured him, but Louise had been trying to rid of him for years, mentioning that he was too old. Sebastian had none of it though. The Carrington's treated the people who worked for them like their own family. Louise failed to see this.
With a bow of his head, he took his black hat off and held it to his chest, seeing his family stood outside the door, waiting for them to arrive. There was his father, grandfather stood together with his two siblings stood behind to the side, Scott and Adeline (who at the moment looked excited to see him).
Oh how that would change within the next few hours.
...
There will be either one or two more chapters until I begin using the episodes from the actual show. This is mainly a story between Adeline and Anthony however I have a plot line for Sebastian as well which I'm very excited for.
Also... if you look at the gif's of their father and Sebastian, don't you think the two actors look like a perfect fit for father and son? I was looking at them today and I was like... wow, you actually look like you're related. Is that just me?
