"He's always been this way" Mauve rolled her eyes.
"He's always pissing people off. He's such an ass, I'm sorry you had to deal with that."

I looked over at the painting on my wall. My room was forest green with creme colored sheets on my bed and dark oak floors.
The painting was black, green and brown, and it looked like someone just splattered paint and let it dry, but it was a beautiful touch to the room.

"It's fine..." I sighed
"I can handle him, I mean he's just like every other boy."

Mauve readjusted herself in the wooden chair in the corner of my room.
"Well, I wouldn't say that. He's not really like every other boy. Plus he's rude..."

"Yea I get that, but how hard can it be to handle a guy like him?"

Mauve tucked the front curl behind her ear and crossed her legs in the chair.
"You'll see Sienna... you're still new."

I nodded and flattened my skirt and picked some dust off my stockings.

"Anyway," I looked up at Mauve
"How long have you been here?"

"Since I was born. My mother was brought here and now she's an instructor."
"Instructor?" I questioned

"Yea, like a teacher in your world. This is an academy, like a hard core school I guess you could say."

"Oh, so you know your mom?" I asked

"Well, yes... don't you?" Mauve responded

"No. I've been adopted since I can remember. I don't know my real mom."

Mauve swallowed and stood up.
"Well I'm sorry, maybe we can find something. I mean if you're here then your family must trace back to here."

"I don't know. I don't think I'm supposed to be here."
"You'll see soon." Mauve smiled "you're meant to be here, I feel it."

I raised an eyebrow at Mauve but shrugged and started to unpack my bags.
I pulled out a sweatshirt, my hairbrush, a makeup bag, and a dark green stone necklace that I was given as a child.
I stopped and held the necklace in my sweaty hands and flipped it over with my thumb.
Mauve walked over questioning what I had in my hand and looked it it while I flipped it again.
"What is that?" Mauve asked

"A necklace. It's the only thing I have left from when I was a child. I don't know who gave it to me."

"It looks familiar for some reason..."mauve furrowed her brows.
"Hm... weird I guess" She shrugged and walked into my bathroom to fix her hair.

I set the necklace down and folded the paper bag and shoved it into the gold trash can next to a oak table in my room.

I sat back down on the edge of the bed while Mauve told me about how I'd love it here at the academy from the bathroom.

She turned on the faucet and her words were drowned with the sound of water.
I stared at the painting and let my mind go blank.
Mauve's words came back into existence as she tuned the faucet handle off and walked back out into the bedroom.

"So Sienna, what do you say? Wanna go out and meet my friends? Maybe get sweet tarts or some swualte?"
"Swualte?" I questioned

"Yea, swualte! It's like frozen creme! I think you'd like it!"

I looked at mauves excited face. "You mean Ice-cream?"
She looked confused, but then I remembered she's never left the academy before.

"Right, never mind." I said "I'd love to go out and see your friends."

Mauve jumped and picked up her water bottle that she set down next to the door.
"Awesome let's go Sienna!"
