I jiggled the key in the lock to try and open my door but it wouldn't budge.
I set down both of my bags and gripped the key with both hands.
I flipped the key over and tried it again but it wouldn't open.
I looked around to see if anyone was watching me struggle, since I know I looked strange.
Nobody was in the hallway so I kept flipping the key and turning it with force.

My hands were sweaty and I could smell the metal on my hands. My gripped loosened and I put the key on the top of my bag as I wiped my hands off on my stockings.

I looked down at my red hands and wiped them off one more time. As I did, I heard a group of laughter coming down the hall.
I lifted my head and there was a group of guys.

My eyes widened and I tried to make it seem like I was doing something as they walked down the hall but I couldn't think of something in time so I just picked at my nails.

I looked back up at the group and they were stopped right next to me. The boys looked behind them and separated down the middle as a tall skinny boy with platinum blonde hair and blue eyes pushed through and stared at me.

"What's the matter?" He said with a nasty, rude look on his face. "New girl doesn't know how to use a key? Let's send her back."

The boy standing next to the blonde, with curly brown hair and brown eyes walked up to me, and grabbed my wrist.

"Get off of me!"
I punched his arm and he immediately let go and held the spot I hit.
"Don't EVER touch me." I said shaking out my hand. I turned back to the blonde boy who looked at me in disbelief. "And yes I do know how to use a key, thank you."

The blonde looked at his friend "did a girl actually hurt you? Why are you rubbing the spot?"

"No, I'm just, fixing my sleeve."
The boy with curly brown hair pulled down his sleeve over the bruise I made.

The platinum blonde boy walked up to me and got up in my face.
"Look new girl, you don't touch us or mess with us, you hear? It didn't hurt, but we'd hate to retaliate. Wouldn't we boys?"

He didn't even look back at the boys, and maintained eye contact with me but all the boys smirked and so did the blonde.

He straightened up and crossed his arms
"What's wrong new girl?"

My hands were balled up in fists ready to punch whenever I needed to.
"Go on, hit me, I dare you." The blonde said forcefully.

I relaxed my fists and wiped my hands on my stockings again and straightened my skirt.
"Who even are you?" I asked.

The blonde boy huffed. "You don't know me? Would've thought they warned you at the front."

All the boys behind him had their gazes locked on me and I looked around nervously.

"New girl listen up," the blonde boy started
"I'm Jace, been here for years, know this place and people inside and out. You mess with me, you're dead. Understand?"

I swallowed hard and looked up at Jace who was hovering over me.

I took a step back "Who?"

Jace furrowed his eyebrows "what do you mean who? Who do I know? Who am I? I told you I'm-"

"No, who cares." I interrupted

The curly haired boy jumped at me but Jace held his hand out, pressed his chest back and looked him in the eye.
"Grayson, she's not worth it."

Grayson looked at me, nostrils flared, rolled his eyes and moved back to his original position.

Jace took a step forward to face me again.
"Look girl, I don't want to hear from you again or-"

"Then don't listen."

"Shut up! You better calm it."

Jace was face to face with me screaming and his hands were now folded into fists.

"Go ahead hit me, I dare you." I said mocking him.
He stood back up straight and fixed the collar on his dark cream jacket.

Maintaining eye contact with me, he said
"Boys let's go, we can't be wasting our time with some twit."
He licked his lips and looked down and back up and turned around to look at the boys.
"I said let's go!"

The boys all turned in sync and walked off in a group with Jace being the last one, following everyone.
I picked the key back up and looked back up at the group.
Jace looked back and made eye contact, raised an eyebrow, and then turned again.

I looked at the number of the key and turns out, I've been trying to open the wrong door. I roll my eyes and close them and take a deep breath.
𝑂ℎ 𝑚𝑦 𝑔𝑜𝑠ℎ... 𝐼 𝑐𝑎𝑛'𝑡 𝑏𝑒𝑙𝑒𝑖𝑣𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠, 𝐼'𝑚 𝑠𝑜 𝑑𝑢𝑚𝑏."
I thought I myself.

I moved over one door and put the key in the lock and turned it. It opened right away.
"Great." I said out loud
If I wasn't so lost I could've been in my room and wouldn't have to meet those boys. But I guess it would've happened at some point.

As I opened my door, I set one of my bags down in front of the door to prop it open as I bent down to get my other bag.

"Hey! Miss! Are you alright?!"

I looked up and this girl with long curly light brown hair was running towards me
"I saw that you had a mishap with Jace. Is everything okay?"

I looked at her, concerned, while she was breathing heavily and almost out of breath.

"Yea I'm fine. It wasn't anything major. Are you okay?"

"Yea, Yea I'm perfectly fine I just wanted to make sure you were good since those boys aren't the nicest is the academy."

I looked into my room and placed my other bag down inside my room.

"Yea everything fine, thank you." I said exhaling heavily.

"no problem. You're really pretty by the way, what's your name."

"Sienna, and you are?"

"Mauve, nice to meet you." The curly haired girl said tucking two curls behind her ears.

"Yea you too." I looked around the hallway and back at Mauve.
"Hey, can you tell me why I'm here? And who those boys are?"

Mauve looked into my room.
"May I?"
And we proceeded into my room as the door shut behind us.
