Heatwave POV
Everyone was heading home. Everyone with their designated partners. Katie following us in the black and white police car she brought with her. There was a weird vibe that came from that car I couldn't place.
We had just now pulled into the firehouse and the humans got out. Cody was there waiting for us. When he saw Katie, his eyes bulged. He ran at her and yelled her name.
"KATIE!"
She turned and when she saw him coming, she bent down on one knee. Cody ran into her outstretched arms.

Katie's POV
Cody cried in my arms as I rubbed his back soothingly. It had been three long years since I was last here. And though I wanted to tell them why I was gone, I knew I couldn't. It's a secret that is not my own.
Something on the far wall caught my eye. I looked up and my eyes widened. I took a glance over at the vehicles that my family owned and I saw the same thing.
It can't be....
"....tie. Katie!"
I came back to reality to see Cade waving his hand in front of my face. I narrowed my eyes at him and pushed his hand away, Cody now over by Dad.
Though I'm the third youngest in the family, me and Cade have always rivals to each other since we could first understand english.
I stood to my full height and looked at all of my family members, then to the vehicles, and then back again. I saw Cody get a nervous expression when I looked at the vehicles out of the corner of my eye.
...And I began to wonder if they new a small part of why I was gone.
