The job goes remarkably well, although to be quite honest Jeongguk hadn't really expected anything else. None of them had exaggerated the difficulty of the job and within less than an hour he was walking out of the building with the hard drive in hand. Seolhee never even suspects a thing - even throwing out a 'have a nice night' as he saunters past, adjusting the borrowed IT uniform.
Jeongguk walks into Namjoon's office the very next day and the man greets him with a smile - the expression only growing as the thief drops the device into his hands. His phone chirps with a notification of a confirmed transfer just as Namjoon shakes his hand.
"You'd think I'd learn to trust Taehyung's intuition more readily after all the years we've spent together," he laughs and Jeongguk can't help but smile at the praise, bowing his head as Namjoon thanks him yet again. "I'll remember your name - if you wouldn't mind doing business again in the future."
"I'll think about it," is all Jeongguk says and Namjoon nods, a knowing look in his eye as they separate. Jeongguk bows again. "It was a pleasure doing business with you."
He doesn't even think about how Taehyung is missing from the occasion, already stepping back into the elevator as their business concludes. There isn't a single unread text or missed call - not even email, although Jeongguk doubts the man even has it. Jeongguk chews on his lip, forcing the thoughts from his mind. He has another job to do - he can't be distracted thinking about the mysterious crime lord.
Or so he thinks, fists clenching around the menus in his hand as he stares across the restaurant floor of his part time job.
Taehyung grins at him, wiggling his fingers at him. The two across from him turn over their shoulders and Jeongguk's face burns in embarrassment as he recognizes Yoongi's smirk, the man beside him a stranger (although the arm around his shoulders says quite a lot already).
"Don't just stand there, Jeon," a woman hisses and Jeongguk stumbles as he's pushed forward in the direction of their table. "Get their drink orders already."
He doesn't even have the option to argue, turning around, before she's scurrying off, the tray of appetizers balanced on her shoulder disappearing around the corner as she hurries to one of her tables. He spins back around on his heel, teeth grinding as he now slowly, unwillingly, makes his way towards Taehyung's delighted smile.
"I wasn't aware you worked here as well, sweetheart," is what he says as soon as Jeongguk is within earshot and Jeongguk's blush burns hotter, cheeks flaming red. He silently lays the menus down, reaching for the pad of paper in his apron. "What a pleasant coincidence."
"Yeah," Jeongguk smiles, his expression a bit pained as Yoongi huffs out a laugh. The man leans back in his seat, his partner staring up at Jeongguk curiously. There's a strange... blankness in his eyes, although a smile twists at the corner of his lips. A long earring hangs from one ear, a black feather. "What can I get you to drink? I highly recommend-,"
"I'll trust your judgement," Taehyung smoothly interrupts, and Jeongguk swallows as the man's expression sweetens, cheeks plumping with the force of his smile. "Whatever you think is good. Don't worry about the price."
"Is that supposed to impress me?" The words leave Jeongguk's lips before he can think twice and he can't wish more for the ground to just open up and swallow him whole. His eyes go wide as Taehyung's smile widens, seemingly delighted by the snap back. Yoongi's partner barks out a laugh too, throwing his head back as he falls into Yoongi's arms.
"I like you," he says and Jeongguk pulls his notepad up to his face, squeezing his eyes shut as he hears Taehyung giggle. "You have good taste, captain."
