I race down the stairs, nearly falling over my own excitement as my mom slowly opens the door. There he is, in his cute tan khakis and his navy blue sweatshirt that is frosted with a sprinkling of rain. His brown hair, gelled to perfection, and his bright blue eyes just look so perfect.
"C'mon in!" My mom states, excitingly.
"Thank you Mrs. Hillside." Brett responds, with an attractive rasp in his voice. I keep making my way down the stairs, feeling like a princess.
"You look stunning." He says with a bright smile, blushing.
"Thanks Brett, you look nice yourself," I giggle. A smile slowly makes its way onto my face. I am so flattered just by his one compliment.
Brett steps in the doorway and I smile at the floor. I reach for my purse and try to look cool. My foot catches on a rebel slip of carpet and I fall to the floor while trying to look graceful. Wow, Jess...smooth. Is it just me or does he distract me from everything? I laugh at myself.
"You alright?" Brett softly says with a giggle as he helps me up, his hands lightly wrapped around my elbows and palms. Since our hands touch, we both gleam into each others eyes. My mom is awkwardly laughing in the hallway while making her way to the kitchen.
"Be back at ten please!"
"Yeah, yeah mom." I mumble as we strut out the doorway with smiles plastered on our faces.
Brett stops as I close the door and he just stares at me and smiles. That was the best feeling in the world. He reaches for my hand and we make our way towards his car, palm in palm.
This night is going to be great.
