The next year passed by so quickly.
I became a scavenger for supplies.
It's risky because you can get lost. But im careful not to do that.
Max is 5 years old now.
I just decided that his birthday would be every 365 days.
Because we don't have track of months or dates.Coal became a watcher, he guards the entrance every 4 days at night and helps drag the dead monsters body's away from the Exit.
I've kind of started to have feelings for coal.
But I don't say anything because I don't want to make it weird if he says no.
Max is starting to ask alot of questions about really random things. But I guess that's just what kids do.
He also lost his first tooth a while ago.
A new one has almost fully grown back.Max has longish hair, so I cut it with some sharpened glass and it actually doesn't look that bad, kinda frizzy but he's still cute.
I always felt bad. I wish I could show max all those cool things little boys like, like Superman or video games.

I sighed as I sat on the bed watching Max play with some crayons, drawing on the walls.
I didn't care if he drew on em.
I didn't have bills."Are you hungry?"
He looked at me and nodded.
"Yeah! I gotta take a poop!"
I laughed at his randomness and took him to do his business outside since it was day and safe out, after we went back inside and went to wash his hands with proxide then eat.
As I ate my burger and max ate his coal walked up to us.
"Hey coal. Finished with your rounds?"
He nodded and grabbed an apple.
"Yeah...hey. we still have 9 hours till night. Wanna go for a walk. Just us three?"
I smiled.
"Of course!"
∆∆∆
As we where walking max was jumping over the lines on the floor, trying not to step on a crack.
I blushed when I felt coals hand on mine.
I looked at him. He was looking away, but his face was visibly red.
"Coal...I love you."
He stopped walking for a second to look at me.
"I know."
He kissed me.
I smiled into the kiss and hugged him, pulling him closer to me.
"Look at that!"
We quickly pulled away flushed that we forgot about Max.
I looked at what he was talking about and I couldn't believe it.
It was an exit.
